Real Talk:
I’ve been pretty quiet on here. Been struggling with a few things lately.
My grandma had a big stroke almost 2 weeks ago. She’s had 3 small ones prior, but this one was big. She was extremely lucky in that it was in her cerebellum, which controls balance. She’s been in therapy in a nursing home since and is expected to make an almost full recovery. She’s only 68 and could be around for so much longer. She just doesn’t take care of herself. Still smokes and eats like crap. I tried really hard when I lived back home to help her. I feel like it’s just a ticking time bomb until the next big one.
Job: is going pretty good. Getting the grasp of everything more slowly, but surly.
Workouts: Have been getting better. 2 weeks ago I had a cold and only worked out twice that week but this last week I think I worked out 5 times. Completed C25K W4 D1 today. That’s going really well. Taking it really slow as to avoid all injuries. The new shoes seem to be working out well. Incorporating stretching and foam rolling every day, vs the once and I while I used to do. Also keeping up with my yoga class at least once a week. Hopefully the combination of all of these things keep any running injuries away. Besides that I’m going to a bodypump class 1X a week and weight lifting another 1 or 2 days. Gonna try to start getting in one spin class again as well.
Eating: has been not the best. Overindulged when my sisters were here. Did ok the weeks following. Overindulged when my friend was here, now I’ve had a hard time getting back on track. I’ve meal planned and prepped for the week though. Already made tomorrows dinner: PaleoOMG’s pizza spaghetti pie. Bring on the squash! More veggies + less mindless eating + a bit less alcohol (not drinking a lot, but still could cut back) = the plan right now. Meal prepping and planning is huge for me and I need to stay on top of it every week. Back on myfitnesspal as of tomorrow.
Social: Really starting to feel the affects of not having all of my people around. I’ve met a few special people here, but everyone is so busy and has all different kind of schedules. When I don’t have daily socialization I can really feel it. Like today Ryan worked all day and I was alone the whole day. Most people can probably handle this just fine, but I was struggling. A dog would help so much...cough cough. We’ve actually started looking. But have come to the consensus that we only want a golden retriever. And they are never in shelters..so it’ll be awhile on that one. ironvixen and whenmysexyisright we should get together next weekend! and freshlymintedmrs, I miss summer and being able to see you every week. Wah!
Also wanting to join actives/groups where I can meet people with similar interests? But what even are my interests.. slow runner, yogi wanna-be, blogging, foodie? I’m sure there’s a club for that....
Mental: I don’t think I’ve talked about my mental health on here much. I’ve always experienced some level of anxiety, when you’ve had it so long it just feels normal to you. Lately though I’ve been feeling like it’s too much and I’ve been getting legit social anxiety as well. I’m interested in talk therapy to just help organize my thoughts or learn how to deal with this better. My insurance though doesn’t have any therapists I can see for free. My only option is to go out of network basically. And all the therapists are $80-120/ session. Not something we can exactly afford right now. Really lost on what to do.. Mental health is so important. I’ve looked into free options in the community, but they are income based and we wouldn’t qualify for that..Advice is wanted on this one.
Wow that was way more than I though it would be.
tl dr: I’m kinda struggling right now but trying to stay positive
