The smell of freshly baked cookies wafted throughout the spacious kitchen, leaving a sense of warmth and relaxation wherever it reached. The soft hum of the oven as another batch baked and the soft sounds as another still was being mixed served as the white noise that led the seemingly awkward pairing in their special song and dance around the room. A demon and a grim reaper were a forbidden pair, as much was true, yes, but someway, somehow, Sebastian and William had been able to see past each other's flaws and turn their bloodlust into a purer form. It only just so happened that this “purer form” spoken of involved many days full of baking to satisfy the cravings the two may have.
As today would have it, chocolate chip cookies were what was on the menu for tonight- as it so usually was- and just as well considering it was the only thing available with the ingredients on hand in the pantry.
Sebastian, the less experienced of the two when it came to making “the perfect consistency” as he so insisted, had taken to leaning against the counter a little away from where the usually so-uptight reaper stood with a bowl and spatula in hand. He thought it quite ridiculous considering how they would never have been in such a position no less than 646 days ago (yes, he kept count; every competent demon should), but yet here they were: he, sneaking a chocolate chip into his mouth every so often and William, an apron tied around his waist in a little bow that was so tempting to undo. Unholy thoughts such as those were to be reserved for now, though, as Sebastian decided it best to simply bask in this moment of domesticity.
“You eat one more handful of chocolate chips and I’m sending you to the store to buy more,” William said, eyes shifting up to look at his partner. He put down the bowl he had in his hands, deeming it ready to be scooped into balls and put into the oven as soon as the last batch had come out, dusting his hands before letting them settle on his hips as he turned to find Sebastian mid-way to eating more of the chocolate.
“Come now, Will,” Sebastian replied, a smirk settling onto his lips, “I’m your lover. Don’t you think that warrants me a little special treatment?”
“Not when you were the one who insisted we bake in the first place you don’t.” the reaper said swiftly, causing Sebastian to let out a little chuckle. Only such a pairing as them could allow such harsh sounding words to have such a warm meaning behind them. Staring at the chocolate in his hands for a second, Sebastian’s eyes seemingly glowed as an idea came to him.
Slowly, he stalked towards his lover, who had become distracted again as he started spooning the dough onto parchment. If William wouldn’t allow him a little special treatment on his own, then the demon would simply find his own way to get it. Once Sebastian had gotten close enough, he wrapped his arms around the reaper’s middle and pushed a chocolate chip into his mouth with one hand while using the other to lift his chin up, their eyes locking with the movement.
Almost as if he were in a daze, William just stared at the demon, subconsciously letting his weight lean into his form. Snapping out of it once he realized the predicament he was in, he pushed Sebastian away from him, clearing his throat and fixing his glasses.
“Honestly, dear, if you wish to fluster me, you’ll have to do better than that,” William said, avoiding his partner's eyes. Not wanting to be in such an embarrassing situation any longer, he pushed past Sebastian’s laughing form, suddenly very interested in the cookies that were baking in the oven behind them.
“Oh trust me, my love,” Sebastian said, behind him again, “I can do much better than that.” The demon pressed a kiss to his reaper’s cheek before leaving a resounding smack on William’s lower ones, scampering away before any repercussions could come his way.
