i'm having difficulty in sending my art, how do i do it?
First, you upload the picture on a filesharing site - imgur works well for this, so does tinypic, etc etc - and then you will head over to Ao3.
On Ao3, you will hit ‘post’, and title the work as you would, set its’ rating, tag it, etc. etc. etc., just like you would any body of work. The body of the work will be very simple:
and that’s it! You hit post!
Is there any way to see the requests without being signed up? I wanted to write a treat or two, and wasnt sure how to see what people wanted on ao3
Unfortunately, the requests won’t be revealed until after the gift exchange has closed. At that point, they will be revealed and there will be a second list that anyone can submit fills to as treats.
hi are we supposed to confirm that we've taken a prompt from our assignment somehow? is that what the fulfill button is on AO3? I'm scared to press it, I don't want to screw something up by accident.
You hit ‘fulfill’ when you are ready to submit your work, regardless of the prompt you’re filling! The fact that you have the assignment confirms that you’ve accepted it, unless you default - at which point your giftee’s prompts will be sent to our pinch hitters list. =3Don’t worry - even if you do submit early (accidentally or not) your work will remain unrevealed and available to you for editing until the reveal day, which isn’t until January.
Will treats be an option in this exchange? This questions goes for SLBS also.
Treats are always an option, yes! I’ve never had anyone complain about treats. =3There will also be a happy new year list for the unfilled prompts, once the reveals happen.

Not necessarily! It’s assumed that the person will be receiving either art or a story! If you want to specify, you can, but you don’t have to!
Hey, I have a couple quick questions about signing up. I'm new to AO3 (literally just signed up to participate in this and Giftstuck!) and I'm not really sure about the tag system. What can I put here? Also, am I understanding it right that I put one pairing per request? I'm confused because you can place up to 20 characters and relationships. Thanks!
Hello, friend!First of all, thank you for joining us! We are glad to have you, and I’m sure Giftstuck is as well. :3 Let me see if I can help you out.
Tags are things that you are into (and thus can sort your gift by). So for example if you like to see hurt/comfort stuff, you could put ‘hurt/comfort’ as a tag. If you like BDSM, that is also a tag! As is blackrom/kismesitude, aftercare, fluff, angst, first time, etc. Just start typing - the tag system that Ao3 has in place will automatically fill in some suggestions! This is to help us make sure you’re getting something you will actually enjoy.Pairings are kind of iffy; you can put as many (or as few) as you like. We prefer you only put more than one if you’re looking for a specific scenario and are comfortable with a specific range of characters in that senario. You don’t have to put anything there - Homestuck has over a million shipping combinations, and there’s a chance that what you want won’t be listed - but if you have a certain pairing in mind, fill it in. Just like with the tags, if you start typing, the Ao3 system will offer suggestions that you can choose from. If your pairing is not an option listed (ex. nothing with any of the new sprites is in the Ao3 system yet), don’t put anything here. Just make sure you list what pairing you’re looking for in your description box. I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

Excellent! We’d love to have you! It just takes a few steps.1: You must have an Ao3 account. If you don’t, you can request an invite code here (it normally takes about 24 hours to get one).2: Once you have an Ao3 account, click the sign-up button at the top of this page.
3: select ‘Homestuck’ for your fandom, and list the characters you want to see in your prompt and the pairings you want. Sometimes, the relationship you want isn’t on the list - don’t fret! You don’t have to select a relationship.
4: Write a description of what you want in the description box. This is where you make it clear what you want to see of the pairing, etc. Be as specific or as general as you want. This is also where you’ll put a link to your ‘dear gifter’ letter, if you have one - check out these suggested guidelines here for more info on that.
5: Repeat steps 3 and 4 for any additional requests - you are only required one, but can submit up to 5 - and for your offer. Remember, on your offer you are only inputting ships/characters/kinks you are willing to work with. If you are comfortable with almost anything and just want to exclude a couple scenarios/kinks, feel free to click ‘any’ and specify what you’re not okay with in the box - I will do my best to make sure that you aren’t matched with something you aren’t comfortable doing.
6: Click ‘submit’, and then wait for your prompt! It will be automatically e-mailed to you a day or two after sign-ups close.
