Second debate rough impressions
Harris was incredibly strong on healthcare and abortion.
The foreign policy parts did not bring me joy. Harris did a great job of defending the right of Ukraine to defend itself, but Trump made good points about the escalation risks. Everything about Israel was....not ideal. Harris is pro two state solution, pro cease fire, but anti-arms embargo. Ukraine is begging to use its weapons inside Russia while Israel gets harsh language when it drops bombs inside humanitarian corridors. This is not how you appeal to Uncommitted.
The ultimate problem is that while Harris goaded Trump into saying stuff that was disqualifying for liberal voters, I don't know that he stepped on any conservative landmines. Trying to attack him with Cheney & Cheney pledging to vote for Harris was....not great. I think it represents a fundamental and dangerous misunderstanding of just how significantly the Overton window has shifted and why Trump was able to slaughter the best the GOP establishment had to offer circa 2016.
