Flashback
Mimi’s body froze, not wanting to open the door. But in her mind–there was a disconnect.
A disconnect.
Why hadn’t Mimi noticed it sooner? Is…is the disconnection why she hadn’t been in tuned to Evan the last few days Mimi had been gone?
Oh no.
With a surge of panic, she twisted the knob and the door flew open in haste. It was dark and there was an odd scent to Evan’s house that Mimi didn’t find familiar.
Not until she walked into the kitchen and turned on the light did she realize what that smell was.
There at her feet were pools of blood. Human blood. And in the center of it all…laid a messy body all torn to pieces and shreds–maimed and mutilated.
But that hair, those clothes…those eyes. Those pain-stricken eyes...They were all the unmistakable traits of Mimi Cry’s human, Evangeline Gates.
Not a heart beat sooner did Mimi’s screams of absolute horror fill her late human’s entire home.
