Callisto’s Diamond Reign, an era in which he introduced prosperity to Great Britain and made it into a world power over a thousand years ago — was threatened for the first time since his rise to power. The three countries he governed: England, Wales, and Scotland, had a significant fae population. None of which were exactly thrilled about a hybrid vampire referring to himself as their King.
As Britain’s current ruling monarch, Callisto didn’t take too kindly to defiance or insubordination. He publicly declared throughout the whole nation that any threat to his sovereignty would be faced with swift and brutal measures. Despite his efforts, small uprisings and acts of rebellion emerged across the country.
Not one to directly take the peaceful approach, Callisto resorted to using violence. He sent his strigoi army to squash any insurrection attempts towards him. As a High Enchanter, he imbued the armors and weapons of his soldiers with magic considered lethal to fae. Callisto gave the rebels two options: surrender, or die. He refused to take prisoners, actually being part of the select few members in the vampire council who was against the idea of slave castles. It was either bend the knee, or face their inevitable end. Regardless of what they chose, he planned on sitting on the English throne for quite some time and enjoy the way a crown feels on his head.
His troubles ended in a short span of three months. England once again became peaceful under his rule, and the other species bowed their heads in submission. The rest of his vampiric allies weren’t so triumphant, however. After hearing news of an Elder’s assassination, Callisto began to grow weary once again. He sent troops to fight in the war outside of his domain. Should the fae be victorious, there was no security for his own rule. He also wanted to support any of the councilmen in need of help.
Meanwhile, Callisto remained in the Ridgemount Citadel and enjoyed the privileges of being King. Even a millennium wasn’t enough for him to fully appreciate the wealth and treasures under his possession. He was also particularly curious and evidently obsessed over a legendary sword known as Caliburn. Callisto simply intended to feed into his ego even further and see if he could pull the blade out of the stone. Since his ancestry allegedly dates back to Morgan Le Fay, King Arthur’s half-sister, surely he must have some claim right?
