Passion. It's creating this magical space in the world where you give a piece of yourself because you love and believe in whatever it is that you're doing or seeing. For me it's learning and smiling and laughing. It's storytelling and playing and making believe. It's a journey that is improving every aspect of who I am as a human, as a woman, and as a storyteller. It's an adventure that I can't imagine not having started and one I hope will never quit me. Improv is in my heart and soul. It was a part of who I am before I knew who I was. 🌈 Last night, I had another incredible class at @secondcitychitc and I am so thankful to be a student in the music program led by so many beautiful and brilliant teachers. One of the greatest things about chasing your dreams is finding a place (or places) you truly thrive. When I began my blogging adventure six and a half years ago, I found a community of writers and artists that understand me. I love that community and all of the incredible friends I've made so far. In taking my creativity to a new level (thanks, in part, to a small push of inspiration from @ermabombeckwritersworkshop and @m_renee_robbins), and beginning my studies at the Second City Training Center in Chicago, I've found more artists, writers, and performers to whom I can play with. Last night, I had my first show with this group, Pixels, and it was so much fun. I literally get to play pretend every week as I improve and hone my new art form. Not only am I having the time of my life, but I'm also building skills that are strengthening my writing, an effect I didn't realize would be as beneficial as it is. Follow your dreams, kids. Every last one of them. Don't quit. Ever. And find your tribe. Or tribes. Bree-View :: The Boys. We Make It Worse.

                          Friday Night I had the pleasure of seeing the sold out closing show "The Boys. We make it worse" at The Second City Training Center Skybox Theater.  The completely improvised show stars improv pros Susan Messing and Rachel Mason who are joined by Norm Holly, Ryan Archibald, Craig Uhlir and Rush Howell. The show has been a hit with every show run and this three show run was no different, selling out every night. 

                Unfortunately, Messing was not able to perform. Bummers! The approx hour long show was still a delight and full of stomach grabbing laughs from beginning to end. Given the suggestion "boxes" the performers lead the audience to a world where dads were stored and shipped in boxes, an emotional peeping Tom got off on watching a couple share their emotions and the crowds favorite, a one man re-enactment of "12 Dead Men". 

                 We watched the show open with Messing entering the scene as a naïve girl carrying a box and being inducted to what the rest of the ensemble called "the business". As the scene unfolded and transformed to other scenes we were introduced to an array of characters including a boy who ditches school to go to China to get tips on making quality football uniforms played by Uhlir and my personal favorite the emotional peeping Tom played by Howell. Howell's character came as counter to Holly's traditional peeping Tom. The crowd loved the back and forth banter between the two as they argued what the on stage couple, Mason and Arichbald, should be doing and what was wrong with the community theater. Eventually leading us to Howell's one man reenactment of "12 Dead Man". Howell's precise on the spot recall of the characters in the movie was a moment to be scene. The show wrapped up beautifully with call backs to the crowds favorites. 

                 For only $10 (student price) the show was well worth the money. We also got a special surprise at the end. Mason announced they will be returning in May!
