Roy couldn't remember the last time he was so excited to be leaving Star City at Oliver's side. Despite recent events, the two had found a kind of stable middle ground to their arguments and as long as Oliver continued to keep in mind that he was referring to his partner when he spoke of Speedy, then things would turn out just fine. As it was, the reason for his excitement wasn't anything to do with finally winning an argument against Oliver Queen himself. No, he had to be the only person on the planet who could possibly be excited about the events to come.
He was going to Gotham.
The redhead squirmed as he swung over the rooftops of Gotham, watching the world below fly past like Superman himself was pushing it forward. It had been such a long time since he’d seen his best friend and partner in junior crime fighting, Dick Grayson, and less time than since he’d dropped the mantle of Robin onto the shoulders of another young man. It was partially what had started the arguments between himself and Oliver. If Dick could branch out and become his own man, why couldn’t Roy? For now, he remained Speedy, but soon... They'd pick up the argument soon enough.
But now he would get to meet the newest member of the Wayne family himself. Oh, Oliver said that Bruce Wayne would never know they'd slipped into Gotham, tracking down a human trafficking ring that had departed from Star City and moved to the bowels of the hellhole itself, but Roy wasn't stupid. This was Batman they were talking about. He would know. He knew everything, as proven when the Caped Crusader himself swung right into Oliver's path as he landed, halting the archer in his tracks. Roy dropped to his feet a few steps behind, faltering in his movements. He glanced around, looking for the brightly coloured costume he expected to see with Batman. Surely he'd get a look at the new kid now, right?
