Welp thought about the whole thing with Saerans eye color. We sure enough know that the little lamb had the same color as Saeyoung.
In the Secret 02 we see Saeran actually still with his mint colored eyes.
So I looked up if there is a way to change eye color permantly. And actually there is o.o
A few things you need to know beforehand
Of course it all depends on the genes of your parents which color you will have. (Not gonna talk about that one here because that is basic biology stuffs I think)
The actual color is determined by melanin. As children we all have blue eyes until our body developes melanin.
Brown eyes show that you have a huge amount of melanin
Green eyes show that you have a medium amount of melanin
Blue eyes show that you have a low amount of melanin
There exist 2 types of melanin - eumelanin (black and brown) and pheomelanin (red and yellow). The mix of them as well as the amount you have determine your eye color. So for the amber eyes the twins have - their main melanin is pheomelanin, in a huge amount.(source)
How do you change your eye color? Welp the color is in your iris, while the melanin sits on top of the iris. So to get a blue color a thin layer of melanin is removed.
That is done by surgery and is done within 30 minutes. And since the melanin sits on top you are not entering the pupil. (source)
I heard there is also a way to implant a colored iris on top of the real iris - which is more dangerous and might end up making you blind. (Obvious reasons why that might be dangerous are obvious, right?)
So Saeran might have done this kind of thing because he hated to look similar to Saeyoung. I mean why would Saeran go back to his red hair but not to his amber eyes? Simply put because the surgery for that is pricey. That is at least my take on the situation. Or maybe once you taken away a layer of melanin you can’t put it back. Dunno if there is a way to “make” melanin and put it on the eye as new layer. I am just a curious cat that is all ;P
