Everything gets better with time -- the farm, the town, wines, most cheeses, Gavin's relationship with a local stray cat he's named Smee... Though his want to ignore his crush on Jeremy and Alfredo, a pair already dating, has gone unheeded by his heart. A year later and his crush has softened into full out love, not that he will admit it. Though, a few conversations may help clear up a few things.

The trouble is keeping Gavin from tearing the world apart at the seams on a normal day.

Alfredo had taken over from his Captain, and sire, for years. He and Gavin had settled their crew, made a cottage from the ship so that they were always with their first home. They started a bed and breakfast, and they'd had been in a relationship for two years with Jeremy. Everything was perfect. Until an old enemy that was the reason for Jeremy having to be turned into a vampire returns and hurts their family once again, keeping themselves together and taking out the threat is all that keeps them going. And then it's a waiting game.

A roar leaks through a sturdy door hiding in an alleyway, pulsing at the edge of night. Light spills onto the unlit street every time a person enters, a crack into obscured chaos. The smell of booze and sweaty bodies could be detected from down the block, even when the entrance made the bar above it seem closed. But the cellar was always open. Alfredo pulls his coat a little closer, gloves a little tighter. He fidgets, hand brushing over the gun strapped to his hip and to the knives tucked into hidden pockets, and pushes forward.
Alfredo has been separated from Jeremy for far too long. But tonight he is determined to reunite with his lost love. He just hopes the reunion doesn’t turn for the worst.

Afterwards, we'll go back to doing normal missions that involve death and destruction."

But as one of the two only surviving next of kin, with only a distant second cousin as kin should something happen to him, and clauses that keep him from donating it, he has no choice. Moving into a new, untouched house with his roommate, and crush, Jeremy, kicks off a series of events that include but are not limited too: assassination attempts, meeting old crushes, nearly dying, and further lack of understanding about the mysterious death about his parents; not necessarily in that order.

There’s something strangely comfortable about it, actually, and Michael isn’t sure what to make of that. Chooses to push it to the back of his mind instead. That’s something to think about once he’s far, far away.

It took a long time for Gavin to feel comfortable with the idea that he wouldn't have to look over his shoulder, that he could be happy with his husband and not have to worry about having that happiness ripped away. He found that reassurance with the Fakes and their steadfast acceptance of him and Ryan, even though they had yet to realize that they were married. It's not even like he and Ryan try to hide it, but, well, no one said that all of their family was smart in the ways of the heart - Jeremy and Matt did serve as witnesses to their court wedding. However, when a threat the couple thought had been long laid to rest reemerges, Gavin suddenly remembers what it's like to have to fight for what he loves.

It’s almost standard procedure, by this point. Michael gets himself fucked up, crawls to Ryan’s apartment, and the aforementioned teen fixes him up. Rinse and repeat. It’s a fucked up little system they have, but it works. Besides, it’s not like Gavin possesses the medical skills to prevent Michael bleeding out.
“‘m not,” Michael mutters, and Ryan ignores him.
