Dodie Clark is a musician on Youtube, who I’ve watched for a couple years now. I love how open she is in her videos and Instagram captions about her life, and the ups and downs that comes with it. She’s bisexual, has anxiety, depressesion, and a thing called depersonalisation, which she describes in her book, Secrets for the Mad. But the main reason I love her is because of her musical abilities. She writes such relatable and catchy music!

I think I enjoyed reading this because it really helped me to see to those mental illnesses I mentioned before from a different perspective, and it widened my understanding of them.

Dodie’s personality is also really prominent in her writing, and it’s interesting to learn more about her and her life up until - and during - the writing of this book. Also, it is so aesthetically pleasing to read between the fonts, photocoppied journal pages, and illustrations.

For me, this book was highly informative in some areas, and just lovely to read in the others. I don’t think I found any faults, but that was probably because it’s a non-fiction book, which isn’t something I read a lot of. :D

I would probably recommend this to teenagers and over, because I think it does require a bit more knowledge on life and emotions and ... stuff. And she also has a few chapters/mentions of sex throughout the story, but nothing too in depth. Throughout the book, she also gives some helpful adulting tips, like easy recipes and things, which I thought was pretty cool.

Anyway, that’s it. I feel like I’ve just said the same thing several times, but y’know. I loved it. I love her. If you haven’t heard of Dodie, go check her out! She’s pretty darn awesome :)
