Melbourne 2012: I took a long stopover here to see my 2 best friends from high school and the beautiful city that they live in. The city had a vey cool vibe and there seemed to be a lot of events happening, sights to see and things to do. Unfortunately I only had 3 days there! I loved that there was a wide range of theatre - we opted for some Shakespeare (I think it was in Her Majesty's Theatre) which is not my usual cup of tea but it was a nice evening. We also rode the tram to the very colourful Chinatown where we wandered and eventually came to an alley, lined with intriguing graffiti, and tucked in there was the coolest bar I have ever seen - Seciton8. It is a shipping container recycled into a funky bar! Which was unfortunately closed because we were a bit early....so we kept on walking to another old English style bar where we shared a delicious jug of pimms. A trip to Australia isn't complete without seeing some kangaroos...so my friends drove me out of town to Woodlands Park where we checked out the lovely wildlife. Sadly for me, campylobacter was kicking in from my Thailand visit. I ended up extending my stay by two days to stay in bed and recover. Not ideal but better than vomiting all the way back to Dubai.
