Harley Sawyer X Yarnaby's FAVORITE Security Guard!Reader
-During the first attempt at isolation to make Yarnaby less docile and more aggressive to those around him, a security guard from another area is moved to Yarnaby's section after a spat with their lead. Yarnaby has been a menace recently, putting several employees either in the medical wing or in body bags, much to Sawyer's delight.
-Though it was never outright stated, the punishment was meant for the guard to have to deal with Sawyer for a few months, not Yarnaby, with how much everyone hated The Doctor and his attitude. This also meant dealing with Sawyer letting random experiments loose on the floor at night to see who survived to get them used to human flesh. Unfortunately for Sawyer, the security guard is actually very competent at their job, using various creative methods to put the experiments back into their holding areas without harming them or anyone else.
-The security guard, much like the others, doesn't know that the experiments are orphans from Playcare, but rather just crazy toy inventions given life in hopes of using them for the factory.
-Yarnaby's affection toward this guard drove Sawyer to obsessively target them specifically, wanting nothing more than for Yarnaby to tear their throat out for having the audacity to interfere with his isolation plan.
-One of the guards was pinned to the ground during one of Yarnaby's escapes and nearly had his face bitten off. Luckily, this happened during lunch and the new guard quickly tossed a peanut butter covered cracker into the rainbow lion's gaping maw which stopped the attack immediately. This resulted in Yarnaby sitting in a corner of the lunch room, happily licking his chops calmly for an hour. Yarnaby now looks for treats from the guard when they're around.
-Another escape saw the guard alone one night with Yarnaby stalking the halls. The guard was able to lead the giant plushie back to his cell using a squeaky toy while hiding behind corners and bolting when Yarnaby got close enough. Sawyer entered that morning, sure that the new guard was dead, only to find them doing a crossword in the observation room while Yarnaby played fetch with himself with the toy behind glass and it immediately soured Sawyer's mood for the rest of the day.
-Any time Yarnaby is out and about or in a mood, the rest of the security team sends the new guard in while hiding in one of the more secure rooms. Thanks to the guard, maulings via Yarnaby had decreased significantly.
-Yarnaby is fascinated by the guard singing to themself and will get close enough to the glass to scare the bejeezus out of them when they happen to glance back at him. He tilts his head left and right like a dog figuring out a noise, before trying to replicate it with his lullaby voice box.
-At some point, the guard will start playing 80s, early 90s cartoons for Yarnaby to entertain him in the middle of the night. This would result in the two cuddling together with a blanket at the end of the guard's shift once Yarnaby seems content when they're in his vicinity.
-Because Sawyer is a dick and the guard starts picking up on the targeting, they mess with his things when he isn't looking. Small stuff first. Sawyer just set his coffee cup down and left the room to retrieve something? It shows up on the opposite side of the room where Sawyer had passed earlier, making The Doctor think he misplaced it himself. Sometimes, he would turn away only for the guard to pass by, pick up the mug and place it on the other end of the desk so when Sawyer goes back to pick it up, he's grasping at air. Next, his pens go missing entirely and the guard beings to collect them in their desk before sticking them in the ceiling above Sawyer's work station to see when he'd notice them. Then Sawyer finds sticky notes in his own handwriting that he does not remember writing because the guard learned how to replicate his handwriting and the way he talks to make the notes seem genuine. Sawyer starts wondering if there's a gas leak since the guard is slick enough to get in and out without him seeing them, mostly due to his tunnel vision toward his work. The other guards get a kick out of this, watching it in real time via the cameras with the silent agreement that these moments will be erased immediately if Sawyer catches on and wants to check the cameras.
-The guard will never show Sawyer that he got under their skin once they realize his dislike of them. They pretty much "kill him with kindness" when he's being crotchety toward them. They're practically the only one who does that to him on the floor. It even extends to them getting his food and coffee orders from the assistants who are terrified of facing him, making sure they're correct, and dropping it off to him, so it makes him look crazy for complaining about them doing it. The other guards warn them that if he ever "returns the favor" to never eat/drink what he gives them because it's either laced with cyanide or spiked and they're going to wake up on an operating table under his knife. His hatred for them is quite apparent to everyone around them.
-One of Sawyer's colleagues calls him out on his behavior, especially after it becomes crystal clear that Sawyer gets extremely jealous when Dr. White talked to/about the guard, wondering aloud if he was masking a massive crush with intense hatred. This makes Sawyer go off the handle while denying it. He's not a child and "crushes are childish." The colleagues start asking him questions about the guard and he answers them each with confidence only to realize he knows a lot of intimate details about them via obsessive stalking. Of course, he still denies it to those around him, those details mean nothing, but it does make him think.
