Colt and Ryland have been estranged for six years. On the day Grace was sent off, he called Colt and left a flurry of voicemails begging for him to answer. Colt didn't find out until too late. He spirals further and further, obsessing over the Project that his brother was part of, sometimes calling his brother's phone just to listen to his non-panicked voice and maybe leave voicemails to cope with the grief.
Colt has no idea who even has his brother's phone until a man shows up at his door saying he worked security for the Project. He was Ryland's personal guard. And he knows what happened.
This fic follows Colt and Carl as they're brought together by their mutual loss, guilt, and shame. Carl confides a lot in Colt… including helping Colt write a movie about Project Hail Mary, exposing the truths hidden from the world by one Eva Stratt.
