Carmen Morales Vega (88) played by Luz María Aguilar
Abuela Carmen carries the weight of grief with quiet dignity. Since her son Santi's passing, there's a shadow in her eyes, a tender ache that never completely leaves her. Yet, she moves through each day with a soft strength that anchors the family. She's the one delivering the letters to Nadia, carefully, planting small reminders of home without pressing too hard, and adhering to her son's wishes. She hopes that Nadia might feel the roots she's never fully lost, that she might find her way back on her own terms. Her love for her grandchildren is steady and unwavering. She is good friends with Doli, and they often meet up for morning gossip, and enjoys sharing recipes with Babanne Meryem Demir.
✝ Santiago Torres Morales (63) played by Demián Bichir
Santiago (Santi) Torres grew up poor, learning early that life demanded more than it seemed willing to give. The weight of his struggles left him prone to alcohol and other demons, but beneath it all, he loved his children fiercely in the ways he knew how.. sometimes distant and quiet, but always with a desire to protect them. His life was full of hard work and a multitude of regrets, but with inevitable moments of joy, and the pride of knowing his two children were doing better than he ever did — or so he hoped. After his death he left Nadia letters, memories and lessons to help her find the home he had always hoped she would have. He passed six months ago after years of being unwell.
Ximena García Rivas (61) played by Leticia Calderón
Ximena is a woman defined by control and calculation, her love always tethered to her own image of success. She moved Nadia across states, spun grand visions of Californian beaches and private schools, and sold a carefully curated version of life and family whilst shielding her own indiscretions. She's cold, commanding and precise, and values appearances over authenticity. She rarely lets sentiment get in the way of her plans. Every choice she made for her daughter was a strategic one, to mould her daughter into a life she deemed desirable. Even now, she watches from the sidelines and orchestrates. She remarried to a millionaire businessman, after spending years of infidelity in her marriage to Santiago. But to her daughter, she's always painted Nadia's father as the "bad guy".
Unnamed Torres (38-43) played by Julio Macias (open WC)
Nadia's older brother is as observant as they come, shaped by a front row seat to the family's fractures and Ximena's infidelities. He saw it all. The cracks in their father's struggles with alcohol, and the ways in which Ximena spun the story to protect her own image. Loyal to his father and protective of his younger sister, he stayed behind when Ximena whisked Nadia away, carrying the burden of truth that Nadia never knew. Tough he rarely shows it, there's a deep well of care beneath his guarded exterior, and an unwavering commitment to the family that keeps him tethered to the past. Quietly, he's hoping Nadia will one day see it too.
Tomás Santiago (15)
Tomás (Tommy) is fifteen, caught in that restless space between boyhood and adulthood. After being uprooted from his comfortable life in California, there's lowkey resentment towards his mother for the move and the life he's convinced she's ruined. And resentment towards his father for divorcing his mom. He's sharp, perceptive and far more like Nadia than either of them would ever admit. He's stubborn.. proud, and admittedly sensitive beneath the teenage attitude. There’s a part of him, though, that’s slowly starting to let Sedona grow on him, even if it still feels like a place that doesn’t quite fit the way LA always did.
