Their host city of Wakanda still lies in somewhat of a ruin a week after Thanos made planetfall. Thor is helping where he can, mostly heavy lifting and moving of debris, but as time ticks by, he finds himself itching to move. Most everything is lost to him, but there’s something digging just beneath his skin, and soon he tells the Queen Mother that he will be back soon to continue helping, but that he needs to leave. The accepts with a nod and, after he tells Steve Rogers the same, he is airborn.
Flying both helps and increases his anxiety. He’s always loved being in the air, but now he has nothing to distract him from his haywire thoughts, nor from the strange energy he’s sensing from a city that’s very familiar to him.
Once he arrives in a still recovering New York City, and the energy source is confirmed in his heart to be Asgardian, Thor can’t help but immediately begin searching.
The source is strangely familiar, though not so much that he knows exactly who it belong to (he knows it is not Loki immediately, which sends his heart plummeting, but he is not without other hopes).
There’s not much thought in his search (he’s not really of a mindset to tread carefully, not anymore), so when he’s entering a place of business with no regard to his appearance, he should be less surprised when he receives surprised squawking by way of greeting.
Without much preamble, he hones in on the man that looks bizarrely familiar, the man that shines with aesir, and beneath that, Odin’s own magics, and -
Stops. Thor is tempted to throw his hands on the desk before him and insist answers and explanations, but that isn’t fair. None of what’s happened is, and the least he can do is tread gently.
“You are Asgardian, are you not?”
Okay, so not altogether gently, but he didn’t throw his hands down on the desk before him, so small achievements.
