Photoblastic seeds are seed whose germination is influenced by light. Seeds that are stimulated to germinate by light are described as positively photoblastic; seeds whose germination is inhibited by light are said to be negatively photoblastic. The response to light is apparently mediated by a phytochrome. Lettuce is an example of a positive photoblastic seed. That is the reason that lettuce seeds should only be lightly covered with soil when they are planted. Negative photoblastic seeds do not germinate if they are exposed to light. Onion seeds are negative photoblastic. . . . #plant_world #biodiversity #seedscienceandtechnology #seeds #crop #development #icarjrf (at Mahendergarh) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGz9JgtHnSl/?igshid=8xrz5r97qd79
