My babiest boy Seedspots 🌱 ✨
Arc1, book 3: Chapter 2
Silverstream sighed as the water lapped at his paws and belly. He felt the soft paws of Featherkit and Gillkit nudge his belly, their small whimpers made him smile. He moved his body a little making it easier for his kits to latch.
'Graystripe says Featherkit looks just like me. I wish I could see that for myself' Silverstream thought with sorrow. Mudfur did his best to save his eyesight, even trying some herb mixtures that he was taught by WindClan's old medicine cat Hawkheart, but nothing worked. Silverstream didn't care too much; there were worse fates.
"Um… Silverstream?" Silverstream turned his head to the sound. Although he couldn't see that well anymore, he recognized the voice as Dogpaw's, and could also smell Vixentail, Blackclaw, and Bluepaw with them.
"Yes, Dogpaw?"
"I brought you some carp," Dogpaw mewed. "I know it's your favorite."
"I made sure that it's not poisoned this time," Vixentail growled, while Dogpaw let out a little whimper of guilt. Personally, Silverstream didn't blame Dogpaw or Bluepaw for the fish, no matter what others thought. He knew the apprentices already had enough struggles, and he knew it was the Twolegs fault.
"Thanks, Dogpaw," Silverstream mewed, pawing at the ground to find where Dogpaw had put the fish. Feeling its wet, slimy form beneath his paws, he bent down and began to chew on it.
Blackclaw must've been watching him struggle to find the fish, because she murmured, "We don't need any more blind cats," under her breath. Vixentail murmured a quiet agreement, but Silverstream still heard them both. He was used to the blind comments by now. He knew the only reason they didn't say it to his face was because he was Stormstar's kin. At least my father still treats me the same.
Silverstream had always tried not to be too offended by Blackclaw's smart remarks. After all, she had always thought he was above everyone else. Being the son of Shimmerpelt and Piketooth, two very respected fisher and fighter respectively.
And as for Vixentail, she liked to follow the black tom's lead a little too much, in Silverstream's opinion.
He was glad Stonefur dumped Blackclaw in favor of Skyeyes. He didn't deserve to be Stonefur's mate.
"How's Featherkit and Gillkit?" Bluepaw asked, the kits in question mewling loudly as they still laid pressing against Silverstream's stomach.
"Loud as ever," Silverstream chuckled. "Hungry too, I think my milk is fine for now though Bluepaw"
"What's it like being blind?" Dogpaw
"Dogpaw!" Vixentail hissed, and the loud thwack of someone's paw hitting the back of the Dogpaw's head followed.
"Ow!"
"It's fine," Silverstream said plainly. "Imagine not being able to see, but your other senses increased tenfold."
"That's cool!" Dogpaw mewed.
"No, it's not," Vixentail muttered.
"What's going on here?" Silverstream almost jumped at the sound of Voleclaw's voice. He hadn't even noticed the tom creep up on them. "Silverstream, are they bothering you?"
"Only Vixentail and Blackclaw."
"We need to take your kits," Blackclaw said. "Featherkit in fact"
Vixentail made a shocked sound but Silverstream couldn't tell if that was genuine or not.
Silverstream could recognize irritation in Voleclaw's voice now. "Why would you ever?"
"We need to make sure it healthy."
"That's Mudfur and Bluepaw's job, not yours, fish-face," Silverstream growled. "This is my kit, and you will not refer to her as it, you will refer to her as her name and that alone, Blackpaw."
Blackclaw hissed.
"Leave," Voleclaw snapped at the pair. "Don't you have patrols to do? I know Willowheart and I gave you somewhere more important to be, Blackclaw."
Blackclaw released another defiant hiss, but he was still obliged by Voleclaw's orders. Silverstream could hear him mutter angrily to himself as he stalked away with Vixentail following after him. Before the two disappeared, Vixentail called, "Come on, Dogpaw!"
"Dogpaw can stay. You two can swim away," Silverstream replied, curling his tail around Featherkit, Gillkit, Dogpaw, and Bluepaw.
/
Silverstream growled in frustration, water splashing everywhere. He missed another fish.
"Silver, I know you love fishing, but maybe-"
"Don't, Minnow. Just don't," he replied shortly. He knew what his sister would say, and that was sending him back to camp. But Silverstream didn't want to go back there again, not after what had happened with Blackclaw and Vixentail. He thought that by coming out here, he could prove herself to them again by relearning how to fish as a blind warrior, but it seemed impossible.
They felt like a dead weight in the clan, but he didn't want to feel this way anymore. Bluepaw encouraged him to help Mudfur gather herbs, but Silverstream wasn't sure if he should offer to be the old medicine cat's apprentice when his heart still yearned to be a warrior.
"You know that I'm not trying to be rude, but…" she trailed off.
Silverstream sighed. "You know I'm not really useful being blind now."
"I love you, Silver. You're my littermate."
"I know, and I love you too, Minnowpool. That's why I know you wouldn't say what you know is the truth."
Minnowpool's pelt brushed comfortingly against Silverstream's side, and he sighed. Would he ever get to be a warrior again, or was he doomed to be useless to the clan from now on?
///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Icefire flicked his tail back and forth, watching the clan as they moved around the camp. He had Mistlekit nuzzled in his tail while Snowkit was playing with Waspkit and Hornetkit. He had managed to assign patrols, with some of Leopardstorm's help. The pointed white tom had been helping him adjust and even helped watch the kits with him before he led a patrol to Sunningrocks.
Taking care of kits was still something he enjoyed doing, even with his deputy duties keeping him on his toes. He'd been taking a lot of care for Milk-kit, Snowkit, and Mistlekit. Mostly to give Nettlemist a break and honestly he didn't mind bonding with the kits and wanted to look out for Milk-kit and Snowkit because they don't exactly fit clan norms.
He saw Shrikepaw bring over a sparrow, her fur just as frazzled and spiky as his Fuzzypelt's had been. "Been hunting?"
"Yep, caught this one easily," Shrikepaw purred. "I caught two squirrels, too."
"Can you take it to the elders?"
"Yep," Shrikepaw mewed. "That was okay, right?"
"Of course, sweetie," Icefire replied, licking his kit's forehead. He chuckled when he felt Milk-kit try to latch, he was so telling her this when she was older. He felt Goldenflower lay beside him. "I'll watch them, go stretch your legs," she mewed. "Shrikepaw, you can help, if you want."
"Cool."
Icefire slowly got up and made his way around camp, deciding to pay a visit to the elders. As he approached the fallen oak where the elders made their den, voices drifted up from behind its bare branches.
"Darkstripe's kits will be born soon, and Cherrycloud and Thymeroot have finally named their kits," Speckletail mewed.
"New kits are always a good omen, sister," White-eye purred. "What are they called?"
"Badgerkit and Stork-kit"
"Starclan knows we could do with a good omen," Smallear muttered darkly.
"You're not still fretting about the ritual, are you?" Patchpelt croaked. Icefure could imagine the old black-and-white tom flicking his ears impatiently at Smallear.
"The what?" White-eye mewed loudly.
"The naming ceremony for the new clan deputy," Patchpelt exclaimed loudly. "You know, when Tiger-roar and Nightshade left a quarter moon ago."
Smallear snorted, and Icefire imagined him nodding at Patchpelt. "A young cat can't be trusted to make wise decisions on the clan's behalf."
Icefure could hear Speckletail tear at her moss bedding with her claws, trying to fluff it to her liking. "A young cat with kittypet heritage, at that," she pointed out hoarsely. Icefire's heart stung at her comment, but it hurt even more when he heard Smallear's next comment.
"I'd trust an experienced traitor over Icefire, especially when his ceremony didn't follow the proper ritual. ThunderClan is as good as dead, with Icefire as our deputy."
His tail drooped as he heard the elders murmur their mutual agreement. His spirit feeling hurt beyond repair, Icefire took a few paces backwards and headed for the fresh-kill pile, wanting nothing more than to sulk and release his hurt on a mouse or two.
Maybe the elders are right, Icefire thought sadly. What if I really am a bad deputy?
/
"We should attack Shadowclan," Seedspots growled. "They're getting too pushy lately."
Icefire struggled to contain his frustration as the meeting progressed. He had been in charge for the meeting of the elite warriors as Bluestar was still sulking in her den, but it was difficult to assert his authority as a leader without his leader here. Once again, he reminded himself of the elders' conversation a night before, and he couldn't help but feel a stab of despair yet again. He wished Bluestar was here.
"They haven't done anything to warrant an attack," Raveneye mewed, the strong wafts of lavender and marigold spreading throughout the room as they spoke.
"So? They are just biding their time and getting ready to strike in the night," the tortie replied. She pointed to the map of attack that she had drawn in the dirt a while ago. "We could attack here."
"We will not attack if they haven't done anything," Icefire mewed before releasing a sigh. "Why start a fight for no reason?" There was already a border scuffle this past moon, and it had been during the last patrol that Darkstripe was allowed to lead before Icefire had the nursery cats confine him to camp. He had been a little relieved at Darkstripe's confinement, because it meant less worrying about whether Darkstripe would slip out of camp and betray ThunderClan's secrets to Tiger-roar and Nightshade somehow. He still didn't know where they were and he knows they would try to kill him, mostly Nightshade. Didn't help that he remembered that they had Brokentail and Dewflare with them.
Icefire had been part of the reinforcements to the scuffle, and he ended up ripping into Whitethroat as the black tom nearly killed Cinderfreeze. Icefire felt enraged during that fight. Whitethroat wouldn't meet with him anymore like he used to, and it was making Icefire constantly worry, and it was getting in the way of his duties. With the new pressure of being the clan's deputy, and admittedly his own insecurities, he realized that he didn't need the added stress of Whitethroat on his mind. Whitethroat would keep shutting him out no matter what he tried, so he decided it was time to be rid of Whitethroat for good.
He was snapped out of his thoughts as Seedspots countered, "You don't want to show ThunderClan's strength? I know plenty of cats who want to slash some ShadowClan hide."
"What's wrong with peace?" Embereyes asked. "At least for the moment."
"If we don't show strength then the other clans will think-"
"Who cares what the other clans think?" Icefire scoffed. "I don't. They can mind their own business." Rising to his paws, he fanned the map away with a quick flick of his tail. "This meeting is over."
"Seriously?" Seedspots snapped. "Don't you have an ounce of bravery in you?"
Icefire ignored her, and decided that was the end of it.
If only it had been that simple, but then, nothing was simple anymore.
He was on a solo hunt at the Owl Tree when he heard the awful news. He was stalking a dove that was pecking at some seeds that Icefire left for it as bait to lure it from the tree. The bird was fat, looking very well-fed this season. It'd be enough to fill two warriors' bellies.
Licking his lips, he began to creep up on his prey, careful not to disturb the leaves with his tail. As he closed in on his kill, he bunched his muscles, preparing to leap and deal the final blow. However, the bird quickly took to the skies when it was startled by a rustle in the bushes not far from his hunting place. Hissing with frustration, Icebelly turned to curse whatever had scared away his catch, only to be cut off short when Brightpaw shot into the clearing, barreling into Icefire.
He wanted to snap at the apprentice for making him miss his catch, but there was a sense of urgency around the younger cat that kept Icefire silent. Brightpaw, out of breath, took a few moments to gain their breath back before quickly mewing, "Icefire, you have to come quick. Seedspots is taking a patrol to the ShadowClan border to fight!"
Icefire felt like he should feel a ripple of shock course through him, but there was nothing. It was just like Seedspots to do something so arrogant, even against his own deputy's orders. Anger engulfed Icefire, but it was mostly directed at himself. If he had been a better deputy he would have done more to prevent Seedspots from leading such a rash attack. "Show me the way, Brightpaw. We have to stop this!"
Brightpaw, though still out of breath, managed to find enough energy to quickly lead him towards the border where Seedspots' patrol had gone. He knew it had been too late when he heard the hissing and screeching of wrestling cats at the Thunderpath. He watched the chaos unfold around him, while Brightpaw stood rigid with fear beside him.
Seedspots' patrol was even bigger than he had imagined. It seemed like half of the clan was present at the fight. He could make out Dustpelt's brown and ginger tabby fur in the cluster, the tom delivering a deep bite wound on Wetfoot's shoulder. Only a mere fox-length away from him, Robinwing and Thornpaw were both tag-teaming on Hollyflower, who looked absolutely terrified by how outnumbered the ShadowClan patrol was.
Icefire charged into the clearing, trying to find Seedspots in the fray. He noticed that Sandstorm had been a part of the fight too, and she was struggling beneath Sharpfang, who had pinned her roughly into the dirt. Icefire launched himself at Sharpfang, throwing her away from his clanmate with sheathed claws.
Sandstorm sat up quickly, her sandy fur now dotted with brown specks of dirt, and her pelt was riddled with fresh wounds. "I could have handled myself, Icefire!" she snapped.
"That doesn't matter. You shouldn't be here!" Icefire snarled at her. "Nobody from ThunderClan should. Where is Seedspots?"
Sandstorm flicked her tail vaguely towards the direction of the Burnt Sycamore. Icefire's gaze turned towards it, spotting the cat in question. Seedspots seemed to be fighting with the leader of the ShadowClan patrol, Russetfur. The she-cat's russet-coloured fur was stained scarlet as Seedspots tore her apart.
"Seedspots! Stop this at once!" Icefire yowled with fury.
If Seedspots heard him, she didn't listen. She dug her teeth deep into Russetfur's fore-leg, bowling them over and exposing her belly. Too wounded from the battle, Russetfur seemed to be hunching over in submission. She looked more vulnerable and weak than a piece of fresh-kill; an easy kill.
Seedspots must've noticed it too, because her muscles bunched beneath her fur, and she pounced at Russetfur again with her claws extended. Seeing an opportunity to end this, Icefire dove into the quarrel on winged paws, nearly dodging Oakfur as Fogtail tripped him over with his long tail. Leaping into the air, Icefire's claws met Seedspots mid-leap, and he slammed his clanmate hard on the ground.
"What the fuck?" he snarled.
"What?" Seedspots said, her fury stopping in confusion at the word 'fuck'.
"What in the name of Starclan is wrong with you?" he snapped.
"What's wrong with you, kittypet?" Seedspots sneered.
"You piece of-" he began, but he cut off as he was shoved away from Seedspots by a blur of black fur. He was too pissed when he saw Seedspots avoid his orders yet again by rolling onto his paws and pouncing on Blazefang now, who was trying to help the injured Russetfur away from the battlefield.
Not giving a damn anymore about stopping the fight, Icefire wrestled his opponent. He had his attacker locked in his claws, and the both of them were standing on their hind-legs, throwing punches and raking each other's faces with unsheathed claws. He realized it was Whitethroat that he was fighting with, but he didn't care. He shoved forward, hissing, trying to go for Whitethroat's neck.
He recognized that it was Whitethroat that he was fighting with, but blinded by fury, he didn't care. He shoved forward, hissing, aiming for Whitethroat's neck. The black tom tried to trip him up with his tail, but Icefire had been trained by the best warriors in ThunderClan. He wasn't falling for that old trick.
Icefire latched onto Whitethroat's tail with his teeth, biting down hard. Whitethroat hissed with pain, and Icefire expected him to retreat back into his territory, but Whitethroat was stronger than he thought. His strength overpowered Icefire's own, and he quickly threw Icefire on his back, forcing him into a pin. The black tom bared his teeth in a snarl.
"Do it," Icefire growled. "Finish me already or get off and run."
"I could never kill you."
"You can't fool me," Icefire retorted, recalling how Whitethroat told him about the times he shredded fought with Badgerfang, his clanmates, and even his own kits. "I know for a fact that you have no problem spilling blood."
Hurt flashed in his eyes at Icefire's jibe, but it quickly turned to anger again. "You don't know anything about me," Whitethroat snapped.
"You didn't let me!" Icefire retorted. "You never let me in. You always shut me out, just like you do with everyone else. I don't know how your clan or your kin can tolerate you."
Whitethroat slammed a paw on Icefire's lower stomach, and in response, Icefire slashed the black tom's belly with his hind-paws. Icefire was about to kick Whitethroat away from him, but he felt the ground shake beneath him, and dread crept up on him.
"Monster!" Icefire yowled.
Every cat began diving for cover, all except Icefire. He scanned the clearing to make sure that every ThunderClan warrior had made it to cover before him, and he felt frozen with fear as he spotted Swiftpaw lying on the Thunderpath, not moving. The monster was barrelling towards him at a rapid speed.
Icefire wouldn't let the apprentice become roadkill. Thinking quickly, he leaped forwards as Fogtail tried to rush to Swiftpaw's aid at the same time, the car nearing closer with every second. Seeing the monster encroach on the apprentice made Icefire panic, and he made a regretful decision.
He kicked Fogtail away as they, too, rushed to Swiftpaw's aid. He launched himself onto the smelly path and grabbed Swiftpaw by the scruff, tossing him towards his mentor on ThunderClan's side of the path before Icefire quickly dove for cover along with him, but he had leaped for safety too late. The car had hit him, and everything went black.
/
Starclan, why!
Thymeroot was frustrated and worried beyond belief. She didn't think things could get more hectic, but of course she had to be wrong. She admired her work on the unconscious Icefire's leg and tail. It hadn't been in the way too much, she managed to pop in back in and stop the bleeding. He'd keep his tail, the fur just needed to grow back and he'd need help lifting it and walking. He already had a limp, it would be worse now.
"Good job, kid," Yellowfang rasped. "The foolish cat will need it."
"He did save Swiftpaw from being killed," Thymeroot pointed out.
"That he did," Yellowfang replied. She gazed at Icefire like a queen gazes at their own kit. "Trying to be a hero."
"Better than being the villain like Seedspots," Thymeroot growled.
"She's already having the tongue lashing she deserves."
"Was it you, Goldenflower, Raveneye, Frostbite or Bluestar?"
Yellowfang chuckled. "All of the above. Raveneye and Frostbite especially tore her down."
Thymeroot couldn't share her mentor's good-nature at the moment. "What's her punishment?"
"Two day exile, and when she returns, apprentice duties until further notice."
Thymeroot sighed. Seedspots definitely deserved more than what she received. This was no time for the clan to be starting petty battles with other clans. Thanks to her, they would not only have to worry about the cryptic imprint that Tiger-roar and Nightshade's exile left on the clan, and now had to watch out for ShadowClan's retaliation.
Worry wormed within her as she cast a side-long look towards Icefire's unconscious form. The clan seemed more vulnerable than ever before. With Bluestar still sulking in her den, Icefire had been the only leader that most of the clan would obey. This attack would leave him out of commission for a long while, far longer than Seedspots' exile would last, and who knew what she'd try to encourage the clan to do next when she returned?
If they return, Thymeroot thought grimly. Seedspots obviously did not respect Icefire's authority, just like Tiger-roar and Nightshade had. Could Seedspots be another traitor in their midst and inform Tiger-roar and Nightshade of ThunderClan's weaknesses? And who would be the first to retaliate on their clan; the newly-aggravated ShadowClan, their traitorous ex-clanmates, or both of them teamed up together?
Sharptongue of Riverclan, Badgerclaw of Windclan, Foxfang of Shadowclan and Seedspots of Thunderclan
Sharptongue - A proud and bold cat. Sharptongue is never afraid to tell it how it is, they will always give their honest opinion, no matter how brutal it may come across, they believe honesty is highly important, and so you will never catch them telling a lie. Sharptongue will never admit if they are wrong, and will often shift the blame to anything but them, they strive to be the perfect RiverClan warrior, so they will not readily see their own flaws. Sharptongue is never afraid to speak up at clan meetings or even at gatherings to express their opinion on a matter, and they hate being interrupted, but they have an icy stare that can silence even a clan leader, so they do not get interrupted often, 15/10
Badgerclaw- A kind and skilful cat. Badgerclaw is one of the most powerful warriors in WindClan, they might not be as speedy as some of their clanmates, but they certainly make up for that in their strength. They are a skilled fighter often using their strength to their advantage, but they only fight when they have to, and will often try to win fights without any need for bloodshed, often using their strength to pin opponents down. Outside of hunting and battling, Badgerclaw is a big softie, they will often help out their clanmates, and they will often be found playing with kits outside the nursery or sharing tongues with the elders, 14/10
Foxfang - An intelligent and confident cat. Nothing ever seems to phase Foxfang, they seem to be able to handle whatever is thrown at them with ease. Foxfang often thinks fast and acts faster, but they always ensure their movements are as precise as they have quickly planned, as any mistakes could be costly both for their reputation, and potentially their life depending on the situation. Foxfang always walks with their head held high, and without any hesitation, they have complete confidence in themselves, and every victory they have only adds to this confidence, 14/10
Seedspots- A kind and nervous cat. Seedspots is a little jumpy, they get surprised easily and they sometimes get a little paranoid, however this leads them to always envision the worst case scenario, so they are prepared for it to happen, and often discuss these scenarios with their leader to help advise them on backup plans if things go wrong. Seedspots is a naturally kind cat, and will do anything to help a clanmate, some cats might think to take advantage of Seedspots’ kindness, but no one in ThunderClan could ever bring themselves to do that, Seedspots is regarded to be one of the nicest cats in the forest, 15/10

Arc1, book 3: Chapter 7
The trail to the Moonstone went as smooth as the time he first went. They managed to get there before dark took over and slept and ate before finally going into Mothermouth. The cave was just as he remembered dark and had sharp edges but soft voices could be heard if are silent enough.
He could hear voices of the past as they went further and further down, he caught the scent of Goosefeather, Thrushpelt, Rosetail, and others he didn't recognize. The stary scent made almost made him purr and snarl at the same time. It was powerful, no wonder Tiger-roar fled that time.
The light from the stone made his eyes burn like the sun so Maplepaw had to guide him to the stone. He didn't flinch when he felt the cold rock hit his nose and let sleep take him.
-Dream Start-
"Wonderful to see you again" Icefire held back a slight groan at Redtail's voice
"Why can't I ever just sleep?"
"Why sleep?" Spottedleaf purred "It's been a while since we saw you whitefire"
"Icefire" He corrected "I just want to rest for a bit without worry"
"The time of worry will come Icefire" Redtail stated "It's just building at the moment"
"Meaning?"
"Stuff it brother" Spottedleaf mewed
"Scarm" Goosefeather's yowl made Redtail and Spottedleaf jump "Leave him alone will you"
Redtail hissed and walked off to the red land while Spottedleaf only sighed and walked into the starry grass.
"What is that place Redtail goes to?"
"A place for cats that Starclan deems unredeemable" Goosefeather replied gruffly, shaking some feathers from his fur.
"Is that where the tortie molly lives?"
Goosefeather flicked his tail "If you mean Mapleshade then yes"
Icefire glanced at the red hollows
"Go if you're so curious"
Icefire stared at him "What?"
"Did I stutter?" Goosefeather's eyes narrowed "I can't control what you do however watch yourself around her and if she's with her kits, don't tick her off"
Icefire nodded and made his way over to the red lands. He felt his heart tighten as he placed a paw onto the rotted black ground and made his way further and further in.
The air smelled rotten and the ground felt slimy. It was like he didn't leave the city. He felt felted like he was being watched and he wasn't wrong when he saw the eye-infested trees. If there was a place the irredeemable were sent in death, this was the perfect place to make them suffer.
"Well Well Well, if it isn't the fluff ball" Icefire turned to see the tortie molly in all her glory. She was well muscles, large paws, her ears tufted, golden tooth, and a big fluffy white mane. Definitely had Thunderclan blood. Her amber eyes gleamed with interest at him.
"Mapleshade" he said
She chuckled "I'm surprised you know my name, not many remember my actual name" she padded forward "You looked smaller than Redtail said"
"Redtail comes here?"
"Not to bad for combat against larger and slower cats" she said ignoring his question "Larchy never learns that lesson"
Icefire rolled his eyes "Thanks" he noticed the dark blood oozing from the back of her fluffy mane "That's how you died?"
Mapleshade touched the blood stream "Unfortunately though trust me, there are worst deaths with interesting results" she played with the blood
"I can picture that just fine"
She padded forward until she was muzzle to muzzle to him "You are certainly special to come here by yourself nonetheless, not many are brave enough to do that" she narrowed her amber eyes "Why?"
"Curiosity" he shrugged
Mapleshade stared at him in slight surprise, "That's new" she muttered "You're very interesting indeed"
"I get that alot"
Red mist started swarming around them, he started coughing, it felt like their lungs were on fire "What the-?"
"Shame" she drawled "Our time is up, see ya next time Fluff ball"
-Dream Ends-
Icefire breathed softly as he woke. The others still slept except for Aspenpaw. The gray tabby molly's pelt turned gray in the moonlight. Her yellow eyes glowed with indifference.
"Someone talked to me" she said
He motioned for her to move. She sat close to the entrance, huddled close together.
"Kin?" he guessed
"Something like that" Aspenpaw admitted, flicking her tail "It was Starkit or well Starmoon"
"Did she say anything?"
"She said she's happy me and the others are living well" Aspenpaw replied "She should be here with us"
"I know"
"Can you...groom me please?" the apprentice asked, shuffling her paws a bit "It helps and Chestnutclaw rarely does it"
He began grooming Aspenpaw's ears and in turn Aspenpaw purred softly. They stayed like that until the others started waking up.
Rosepaw pounced "Well I saw-" Dustpelt shushed her "It's for you and you only to know"
"We should head out" Smokyclaw mewed "I'd like to head back to camp as soon as possible"
"Let's hurry then" Chestnutclaw replied, she quickly dashed out of the den with Aspenpaw following after. They managed to hurry out of Mothermouth but were stopped by four figures, Joey, Barley, Rose, and Raveneye.
"Raven?" Icefire asked
"We found Cloudpaw" Raveneye replied,
Icefire's eyes widen "Are you sure?"
"Yes" they mewed "These three found him and I identified him"
"What are we waiting for?" Bearpaw purred "Let's go get him"
"Wait" Dustpelt hissed, grabbing the apprentice by the tail.
"Is he happy where he is?" Icefire asked
"He didn't look pleased" Rose mewed "Looked right spooked"
"Who cares?" Chestnutclaw rolled his eyes "He chose kitty life, he's fine where he is now let's go back home"
"No" Bearpaw mewed "If Cloudpaw is unhappy than that means we should go get him, right Icefire?"
"It's your call" Dustpelt admitted
Icefire sighed "Let's go and we will ask Cloudpaw ourselves"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dogpaw has seen many strange things but never did she think Leopardclaw and Silverstream being together crossed her mind. It was like a fish and a squirrel were together.
Her and her siblings weren't spotted but they did end up asking about it. Silverstream didn't even know how to respond, he was just as confused as they were.
She gazed at her reflection, narrowing at the flower that was twined to her ear fur, a black eyed bee meaning encouragement and motivation in her case, the other meaning was justice. Shadepelt got a calla lily meaning magnificence and beauty, Blackpaw got a gladiolus meaning strength of character, faithfulness, and honor, and Coalpaw got an orchid meaning exotic beauty.
Vixentail didn't want to train her today so she spent her time with Silverstream and their mates as he taught Graystripe how to float. Mosspelt was floating with Featherkit, Gillkit, and Dawnkit on her belly. At least Tidepaw, Eelpaw, Heronpaw, and Poolpaw were nice.
She was given the honor of helping them with their warrior ceremony. She didn't expect for Stormstar to show up, he's been more isolated as of late. Silverstream was obviously pleased to see his father awake and out of the den.
"That flower suits you" Stormstar mewed, his flower crown laying close by. Featherkit and Gillkit was sleeping soundly around his tail after Graystripe hesitantly brought them over. The kits were honestly a joy to be around.
"Thanks, Grand Storm" she replied, her gaze moved to the flower crown "Who gave you your flowers?"
Stormstar chuckled "The gladiolus was given by Brambleberry and the amaryllis was given by Oakjaw, Willowbreeze, and Bluestar"
"Bluestar?, were you still in a relationship?" she asked somewhat nervously. It was common knowledge in Riverclan that Bluestar had adopted Silverstream, Willowheart, and Minnowpool as her own after Willowbreeze died and Stormstar had adopted Mossthorn but there was a time where the relationship between the two leaders was dead.
"Publicly no but it didn't stop her" he replied, his voice soft "I'll always love her, in Starclan we'll be truly happy"
Those words filled Dogpaw's heart "I'm glad half-clan relationships aren't bad like Blackclaw says they are"
The leader's gaze drifted to Graystripe who was doing his best to swim with Whiteclaw and Mosspelt at his side with Silverstream shouting support.
Stormstar pulled Featherkit and Gillkit close, Featherkit's paws clinging on his belly fur "No they aren't, you can't help who you love sometimes" he looked up, his blue and green eyes teasing "Why? you crushing on someone in another clan?"
Dogpaw felt her fur grow hot, she didn't tell anyone about this and she was not having this talk with her grandfather of all cats "N..No" she replied
"Well I have seen you around that apprentice Shadowclan apprentice-"
"What about the forget-me-nots?" She was not having this talk. She hadn't been able to talk with Burdockpaw for a while.
Stormstar seemed to curl his tail in amusement "Those are from me, I like these flowers and I'll admit Willowbreeze and Bluestar got me into them-" Stormstar started coughing
"Grand Storm?" Dogpaw mewed, she pulled Featherkit and Gillkit close to her.
"I'm..fine" the gray tabby replied with a rasp
"Should I get Mudfur or Bluepaw?" she glanced at the others who stopped what they were doing.
"I don't want to worry them, probably something in my throat"
"You worry me, I could get you some honey"
Silverstream padded forward "Maybe you should rest father"
Stormstar opened his mouth but was stopped by another bout of coughing but this time, blood came out.
"Father!" Silverstream screeched
Dogpaw felt her fur shoot out from her body "I'm getting Mudfur"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Rabbit-dung!" Larkpaw hissed
"Snapped a claw?" Morningflower asked, shaking some fur off her pelt
Larkpaw lowered her head "Yes ma'am"
Morningflower sniffed it softly "No blood but you should see Tawnyfur or Barkface" Mentoring her niece proved to be better than she thought it would, Thrushwing looked ready to slice someone when Larkpaw and Stonepaw were to be a tunnelers. In Morningflower's opinion, Thrushwing shouldn't have been surprised when she chose Flycloud to sire her litter.
She could understand on some level, Thrushwing's kitting was rough and Barkface warned her about having another litter but she knew her sister wouldn't care. She knew her sister would die if it meant having a moor-runner litter. She honestly wondered if Thrushwing would try to leave Flycloud for a moor-runner mate, it would be easier for her considering her rank and her reputation.
'You've always had it easier didn't you?'
She loved mentored Larkpaw, it was an experience she never thought she wanted. She loved it more when she got to train with Whitetail and Brairpaw.
"I'd rather Barkface than Tawnyfur, she's been a vulture since she got demoted and named" Larkpaw said breaking her thoughts
It was true, Barkface had been too ill at the time to name Tawnyfur so Blossomhaze stepped in and named her and demoted her down to medicine cat. She's been madder than a fox in a fit. Tawnyfur had asked Barkface to correct the mistake but Barkface said that if a seer saw it so, there was no mistake.
Tawnyfur definitely didn't think so.
"Don't call your healer a vulture Larkpaw" Mudclaw called "It brings bad luck"
"Might do her some good" Lionpaw muttered, shaking his pelt "Better than her snapping at us"
"Do you have a limp Lionpaw?" Mudclaw asked gruffly
Lionpaw lowered his head "Yes sir"
"Morningflower, take Larkpaw and Lionpaw to Barkface"
Morningflower nodded "Let's go you two"
The tunnel was longer than the other ones that Morningflower normally worked on. It was a project Mudclaw and Bristleclaw agreed on for more water and food. She leaped into the sunlight with Larkpaw following after she shoved Lionpaw forward.
The camp was calm for the most part, cats silently sharing tongues and sharing prey. She spotted Thrushwing talking to the camp guards, probably about the stars. She ushered the apprentices into the medicine den, smiling as she looked at the paintings on the walls.
"Barkface? Tawnyfur?"
"Oh for the love of Cheetahclan, What happened?" Morningflower ignored Tawnyfur's attitude, she heard more from Brairpaw.
"Larkpaw snapped one of her claws and Lionpaw has a limp" she mewed
Tawnyfur sighed, she pulled Lionpaw and started a split for his leg "You tunnelers make no sense, you could die down there and you still go"
"Tunneling is the best" Larkpaw retorted "It's so exciting"
"You're grandmother would be ashamed of you" Tawnyfur sneered as she tighten the split.
"Excuse you?" Morningflower growled
"You know it's true Morningflower" Tawnyfur retorted
"I'm sure Starclan is ashamed of you if you got demoted and have such a plain name for a healer" Larkpaw replied with the same sneer, not backing down
Tawnyfur hissed
"Tawnyfur!" Barkface dropped his bundles of herbs to scold his apprentice "Stop this at once, healers don't pick petty fights with apprentices"
Tawnyfur huffed
Barkface sighed "And you wonder why you got demoted"
Tawnyfur stared at Barkface in shock
"Larkpaw come here, Morningflower make sure Lionpaw rests and tell Whitetail afterwards"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I hate dogs!" Chestnutclaw hissed "Filthy furballs"
"We all do, now shut your mouth" Dustpelt snapped
Icefire was looking into the window, trying to get a glimpse of Cloudpaw. He spotted a dog, it was barking and running between the human's legs. The human reached down and patted the noisy mutt, Icefire hissed under his breath, then sat up in surprise as Cloudpaw strolled through a doorway into the room. When the dog rushed up to Cloudpaw he was surprised that Cloudpaw didn't freak out and just ignored it.
"How's he so calm?" Maplepaw mewed "I would swat that mutt's face"
"Can he see us?" Maplepaw asked
Icefire ignored them, trying to subtly gain Cloudpaw's attention by waving his paw slightly. It worked when Cloudpaw let out a delighted yowl. It alerted the humans and Icefire jumped down in an instant.
"What's wrong?" Raveneye asked
"Cloudpaw saw me but so did the twoleg" he replied "Get ready to grab Cloudpaw and run"
The human let out a yell of annoyance "Stupid cats, I already set food out" it said. It seemed to zoom forward, three more following. They were all trapped.
"Quick! this way!" Cloudpaw yowled, the white tom ran out the doorway and ran across teh grass
"Move! Move!" Icefire ordered
They kept running and running. The humans words became nothing but distant yelling and the howling of dogs became softer and softer.
They stopped sometime after, panting and some of them falling over.
Cloudpaw rubbed himself against his sisters then did the same with Icefire "Thanks for coming"
As much as he was glad his nephew was back, he needed to say it.
"Do you want clan life?" he asked
The young cat lifted his chin, his eyes clouded "Of course! I've learned lesson"
"Have you?" Chestnutclaw growled padded forward "You would've kept going if the twolegs didn't take you"
Cloudpaw shook his head, he looked for any cat for defense but Icefire glares at his nieces to be silent. Cloudpaw needed to do this himself.
"Why should me believe you?" Bearpaw asked
"You came to find me, so you want me back" Cloudpaw replied
"We need trust!" Rosepaw snapped, startling her siblings "You ditched the clan for kittypet life, ditched me, papa, Shrikepaw, Bearpaw, Sunnypaw, Ashpaw, Fernpaw, Tulip-paw, and Brindleface , what's stopping us from thinking you'll do the same?"
"I didn't choose" Cloudpaw replied, his blues pleading "I was taken"
Rosepaw looked away, she unexpectedly ran for it.
"Rosey!" Cloudpaw yowled running after his sister.
"Rosepaw, get back here this instant!" Chestnutclaw screeched
"Starclan, help me" Icefire growled chasing after them, the group following.
Rosepaw had reached the highest part of the uplands, where deserted badger sets lay, the sun lifted its head above the horizon and sent a wave of golden light across the heather.
"Rosepaw, come back!" Cloudpaw called running after them with Bearpaw trailing. Aspenpaw and Maplepaw were about to follow when Smokyclaw stopped them with her tail.
"Let them" Smokyclaw mewed "Rosepaw's heading back to camp, I can smell it"
"And I smell Thunderclan intruders!"
The group spun around, their fur bristling. Rushtail was the lead of the patrol, his tail held high and eyes filled with disgust. A rustle in the heather revealed Robinpelt, Marbleheart, Thrushwing, Pigeonwing with his apprentice, Smokepaw.
His niece looked nervous when she spotted him, she looked like she really didn't want to be here.
"We mean no harm" Icefire mewed
"We came here on a rescue mission, nothing more" Raveneye added
"That's not what this looks like" Rushtail snarled
"Rushtail, we should go" Marbleheart mewed
"We were on a trip to the moonstone" Aspenpaw snapped
"Then we found Cloudpaw-" Maplepaw was cut off by Icefire
"I say we fight" Dandalionpaw hissed
"You're outnumbered if you try" Icefire retorted "We want no harm but we will fight if you don't let us pass"
Rushtail hissed and launched forward, crashing into Icefire and starting a battle. Icefire landed a sharp swipe at Rushtail's shoulder, blood dripping onto the grass. Rushtail tried to grip his shoulders to slam him but Icefire dodged and bit into the brown tom's leg. Rushtail in turn landed a blow on his flank.
Maplepaw was wrestling with Dandalionpaw, striking the golden molly across the face. Chestnutclaw and Pigeonwing were locked, both on their hind legs and front legs around each other necks. Robinpelt was pinned by Smokyclaw, the gray molly was stronger than she looked. Raveneye and Aspenpaw were ganging on Thrushwing while Dustpelt was trading blows with Marbleheart.
"What is going on?" Deadfoot's yowl boomed through the heather "Rushtail? did you do this?"
"They were trespassing Deadfoot!" Rushtail replied
"As far as I know, they were trying to get to an apprentice having a moment" Deadfoot hissed
Cloudpaw, Bearpaw, and, Rosepaw were grouped together, Whitetail and Webfoot behind them. Rosepaw and Cloudpaw seemed to have worked out their issues by the looks of it.
"I'm sorry you were attacked" Deadfoot mewed "Take the apprentices and go, Rushtail you and I will have a chat with Duskstar when we get back"
/
They traveled swiftly through the forest, which was ringing with birdsong and thick with tempting smells of prey. Icefire raced through the gorse entrance, ignoring the ache in his side.
A few early waking cats were sunning themselves at the edge of the clearing, Leopardstorm was first to approach them.
"I'm glad you're back safely"
Icefire dipped his head apologetically "Sorry you all worried, we would've been back sooner but we had to grab one more cat" he flicked his tail towards Cloudpaw
"Cloud!" Brindleface yowled rushing over to adoptive son "You're safe"
"What happened to you all?" Miststrike asked
"Windclan" Raveneye replied
"We'd thought you'd gone to live with twolegs" Leopardstorm mewed, his gaze rested on Cloudpaw who returned it
"Yes" Darkstripe's mew sounded lazily across the clearing. He lay outside the nursery. "We understood you decided to join kittypet life" He pushed himself to his paws and padded to Leopardstorm's side.
The other cats watched, waiting for a response from Cloudpaw.
"I was taken by force" Cloudpaw mewed
"Knew that" Ashpaw replied "Wouldn't have left without a fight"
"Typical twolegs!" Speckletail called
"Raveneye and the farm cats found me" Cloudpaw added, he turned back at the group "They came to rescue me"
"And fought Windclan?" Chivestalk asked
"Yes" Smokyclaw replied "Sent them running"
"Cloudpaw fought like a warrior" Bearpaw mewed
"Is that it?" Darkstripe asked "Do we take him back?"
"We'll see Darkstripe" Bluestar's voice made everyone turn. Her gaze was locked onto Cloudpaw "Come" she said simply then walked back to her den. Cloudpaw only followed his mentor.
Icefire released a breathe he didn't know he was holding when Brindleface rubbing themself against him "Thank you"
He only hummed in reply as he felt Thymeroot check his wounds.
