Jaypaw is haunted by the memories of a life before her own- a cat who isn't her but also is. She pushes them off until a cat from these memories appears before her and memories come flooding back.

Her body suddenly isn't her own as Foxpaw's grief overwhelms her, mourning the brother he abandoned. Scared and confused, she runs. Jaypaw is forced to confront that the cat from her dreams was very real, very dead, and may just very well be her.

But is his hate and anguish hers as well? Are the emotions she feels just remnants of Foxpaw or who she is now?
