In spite of this, almost* every, EVERY character has his five minutes! You can clearly see in both parts who is first chair, but none of the characters is overshadowed (!) by another - you feel that each of them is present here, with his attitude to life and towards others, not forced to be “just because”.
And!
casting a disliked Big the Cat as the star of the first part was a very brave move! which paid off! I like him more now :p
the risky choice was also to almost complete get rid of the direct competition between Shadow and Sonic. Shadow acting against Tails and then clashing with Knuckles was something that added to the unexpected color of this rivalry,
ah, exactly - Colors! It is simply beautiful how Whisps have grown into the Sonic world! How would the heroes fight between themselves without them?
