The writing's drawings on the wall
Last weekend marked the one-year anniversary of me discovering the band ThouShaltNot and subsequently the rest of Alex Reed's discography. To celebrate I put on the album SOL - A self-banishment ritual and went absolutely haywire on the walls in my bedroom :)
I mainly used markers and facepaint. It felt so good and visceral to apply the paint directly to my hands and feel the roughness of the walls. It was very real in that way ;3
Most of these can be directly connected to songs on the album, the outline of a person is very clearly inspired by Phantom Limb, the rows of hands turning into claws came into existence while Feral was playing.
The mural of the sun was drawn throughout the album. Started out with the intention to just draw this massive, overbearing, all-encompassing ball of flame. Once the black shape underneath it came to be I was suddenly taken aback as I looked up at the massive figure and saw — my sona - my reflection — in it.
The self-banishment ritual was a complete success. Because at the end I never wanted to be part of this reality more. And I am here. With you. And I will be here. And Reality will be afraid. Because, Darling, we are dangerous 💖
