And here she thought Shinjiro was the more intimidating one. She only wanted to give Mitsuru and Akihiko a little break while watching over Chidori. She barely spoke to them, mainly to Junpei, and she thought she could attempt to talk to the navigator of Strega. As if she could connect to someone like her--at least, Fuuka hoped.

"It's not pity, Chidori-san. It's...empathy. It's hard to see the good when you are surrounded by so many bad things." Fuuka stated, her hands in her lap, staring softly towards the red-head. Of course, she could talk about the many times she was bullied or how she could barely see the light in the darkness until she joined SEES. But, that would bore Chidori or piss her off.

"Junpei-kun really cares about how you turn out--more than himself, you know. If only someone would like at me like he does you. You are very lucky."

Of course, Junpei would never say no to a beautiful woman. Especially if that woman was named Chidori Yoshino. He sat down next to her, holding his hand out to her. "Sure, but are you doing it to make me feel better or do you have some ulterior motive?" He asked, a sly grin appearing.

"Now, if you are going to tell me my future, I know it's going to say," Junpei raises his eyebrows and begins to speak in a falsetto, "Iori-san--you will have a good life with a beautiful girl at your side. Also, you are going to find 30,000 yen in your pocket at the end of this week." He winked at Chidori, knowing full well he wanted to at least try to make her laugh. EVEN if it might be in the way of embarrassing himself.

"Deliverance... huh..." Makoto stared up at the sky. It was cold this time of year, and the Dark Hour painted everything in an eerie light. Somehow though, it didn't make him nervous anymore. Not standing on the roof of the dorm. In the light of a half moon, he could still remember the very first time he summoned his persona. The way the fear pulsed in his veins as he took that dangerous step across the threshold.

To save his own life...

His own deliverance. A revival. His life had changed a lot since then. Loss, anger, joy... All things he had been numb to for such a long time. He had felt them all since that day. He wouldn't trade it for anything. The pain he felt when it happened was nothing. A baptism of suffering to grant his rebirth. 

He doesn't bother telling her its dangerous to be out in the Dark Hour. She knows. It isn't his place to lecture anyone about safety. He had too many reckless choices and acts of self-destruction hanging around his neck. He had thrown on casual clothes and walked to the roof without expecting her here. A strange sorrow has pulled at his heart. Could it be he missed Pharos? It had been some time since they had parted ways, but he still expected to see him when he woke during the Dark Hour. 

"Is that something you only know in retrospect...? Has it already come when you saved Iori...?"

There was only so much celebrating he could do. Makoto wasn't good at processing things like a normal person would. Even joyful things sometimes felt strange to him. So when he felt like that, he went to the rooftop.

He had hardly expected someone else to escape there. His eyes caught flowing white fabric and red hair. The breeze pulling at both gracefully. And he could see, as she turned, the hint of a sparkle upon her cheek. A tear?

After closing the door, he put his hands in his pockets and moved away from it. He leaned against the wall, shutting his eyes as a gentle wind blew his hair even more into his face.

He didn't mention the tear. It was none of his business if she was crying. If she wanted to talk about it, she would. He had a feeling she wouldn't.

"I guess." On the topic of concern. He understood that this was likely a better situation for her. Still, he did have some concerns. He wasn't a mind reader, and he was far from good at reading social cues. "But this is probably a better outcome for you. You'll be safe and have a home. I don't see any reason to have issues unless you believed in Takaya's bullshit. So I guess my concerns aren't logical." A small pause. "Not to mention you make Iori happy. Which is a positive outcome."

The silence that followed Chidori's words threatened to swallow them whole, the Lovers' gaze remaining aimed pointedly at the ground between them. On some level, Yukari was aware that the lolita was doing her best to comfort her, to be supportive in a situation that was alien to the redhead... but they were just empty words. Not that it was Chidori's fault, of course--it was ultimately no one's fault that what she wished for more than anything was impossible.

The inability to place blame only served to make matters worse.

"What's the point, though?" Muttered question was followed by a swipe of the back of her forearm across her eyes, the Lovers tone one of weary defeat. Some dreams were incapable of being anything more than that--dreams, and that knowledge was expanding the hole in her heart left behind by the cerulean Fool's absence without mercy. "There's no bringing him back, Chidori. You can't..."

A shaky exhale. "You used your one miracle on the one you love. I don't have the ability to do the same."

Even though it had only been a year since the last time he had been on a boat sailing out to Yakushima... It seemed like a lifetime. So much had changed since then. He had made knew friends and lost them Fallen in love. Hell, they had all almost died. And even though it had been so hard... He was still alive. Even if... not everyone that was with them the first time made it.

Still, even as the sad thoughts cross his mind, he looks at Chidori and smiles. Makoto would be annoyed if he was sulking, right? It was okay to find joy in the little things. And in her.

Mitsuru invited the remaining members of SEES back to Yakushima. It was another summer trip and hopefully one of many to come. Chidori wasn't with them last time, and he could admit he was beyond excited to spend time with her. He had already expressed to everyone multiple times how he was going to spend all his time with her. But that was fairly typical nowadays.

"You know, I can totally help you but some sunscreen on, Chido-rin." He says like a joke. But the idea of doing it actually made his cheeks a little warm. "I... I mean your skin looks kinda fair." Chidori was beyond beautiful and he did worry she might burn in the sun if she wasn't careful.
