line-of-action.com is a very good website for practicing figures and anatomy
just try your best to observe stuff irl e.g. if u wonder how does the light work on fabric you can just take photos and study them
take lots of photos!!!! and draw inspiration from them!!!
follow good artists and study why their techniques work (I really look up to awanqi for well, everything) but in the end you have to figure out your own style using your knowledge
tutorials posted by others are free and really helpful, process videos of artists are very inspiring too (I’d recommend diesel-1997 ‘s bilibili channel here)
always check your drawing’s value(for digital drawings have a totally white layer and set the layer option to ‘hue’, for traditional drawings.... maybe take a photo and set it to black and white??) during and after the drawing process, make sure your blacks, whites and greys are clear
I find digital painting much easier than traditional drawings because u can easily erase mistakes and adjust the whole image but that’s is just my own opinion hhhhh
@segoe-print was one of the winners for my 150 followers raffle way back in February/March. It’s taken me way too long to write this, but I finally did finish their prize piece. They requested a date with UF Papyrus (Boss) to Grillby’s for an open mic night, where they would sing “Don’t Forget”. They even sent me the version they were imagining singing, so you have some background music to enjoy this story! Check it out under the cut!
Summary: You show off a hidden talent to Boss on your date.
Boss didn’t often go to Grillby’s. In fact, if he could help it, he never even crossed the threshold of the place. The very air in there felt greasy, he often said. It wasn’t just that, though. Grillby’s was Sans’s place. Grillby was Sans’s friend. The barflies were Sans’s friends. When he walked in, everybody called his name and was happy to see him. When Boss walked in, he got a murmur of “Captain” and a few salutes from the dog guards, but not a friendly greeting. It was not his place.
When you suggested a date there, he’d almost protested. There were so many other places he could take you, so many other things you could do. But you had that eager look on your face, and he couldn’t say no. He could never say no to that look. It was open mic night, you’d said. Sans was performing his comedy set. He should go and support his brother, you’d said. If anyone else had suggested it, he would have said that Sans didn’t need his support. He certainly didn’t need Sans’s corny jokes. But this was you, and he could not refuse you anything.
So there he was, sitting at a table at Grillby’s (which he had subtly cleaned with a wet wipe from his pocket) and watching the open mic night. You were laughing and clapping for every performance. Boss was only watching you. You were so beautiful...
He reached across the table and took your hand. “Are you having a good time, my dear?” he asked.
“Yes!” you said, your smile now only for him. “Everybody’s so good, right?”
The mic crackled up front before he could respond. Grillby called, “Next up, singing ‘Don’t Forget’, we have Y/N!”
“What?” Boss looked at you blankly. “You didn’t say you were performing!”
“Surprise!” you said, squeezing his hand gently before standing up. “Wish me luck!”
“Good luck,” he managed.
You walked up to the stage and took the mic from Grillby. There was a static crackle and then music began to play, and you began to sing.
When the light is running low
and the shadows start to grow
and the places that you know
seem like fantasy
There's a light inside your soul
that's still shining in the cold
with the truth
the promise in our hearts
don't forget
I'm with you in the dark
Your voice was...indescribable. He couldn’t take his eyes from your face. You looked right at him as you sang each word.
A calling
so clear to me
and everything I thought I knew was wrong
In stalling
I found you there
a shadow of a memory long gone
You're that light inside my soul
that's still shining in the cold
with the truth
the promise in our hearts
don't forget
You're with me in the dark
Were those tears in his sockets? No! No, the Great and Terrible Papyrus did not cry! He just had something in his eye!
You finished all too soon, letting the last note fade into static again. The room exploded in applause. Boss leaped to his feet and clapped as hard as he could. “That’s my datemate!” he shouted. “That’s my Y/N!!” The moment you were back at the table, he embraced you.
“That was beautiful, my dear,” he said. “I had no idea you could sing!”
You blushed. “Thanks, baby. I’ve been working on that one for a while. Did you really like it?”
“I loved it,” he said. “Just like I love you.”
He didn’t even care that everyone in the bar was watching as he bent and kissed you. “Will you sing it again for me when we get home?” he asked quietly.
Do you have any uf Paps stories you would recommend?
To be honest, because I’m still in the friggin middle of writing my Thunderstruck angry giraffe, I don’t go looking for Underfell fic content unless my friends shove it in my face. But I do have some in my bookmarks, so I’ll share!
First of all - Reborn and Refined by Mercyisnotasignofweakness - it’s the fic that pushed me on a path of writing the UF!Papyrus/Reader fic in the first place. It’s written in Papyrus’ POV, with Underfell brothers being in Underswap post-Pacifist world. Mind the tags because the fic is rated E for a reason.
I just barely started reading Fight me! by MsMK a while ago but a lot of my friends said it was a very cool fic with nurse Reader and UF!Papyrus being a very cranky patient. I liked the first few chapters I managed to read. Mind the tags here too.
I’ve once found a very cute fluffy fic with Underfell brothers finding a very small and defenseless Frisk in the Underground - Two Bros and a Human by Spectascopes. It’s mostly very very cute and sweet. Sadly, so far it seems to be discontinued.
I also have a very weak spot for Chariot by @captain-shitpost. The take on the Underfell Papyrus (and Sans too) in there is very sweet. There’s also a very nice written Grillby. I don’t want to spoil anything, but make sure to check the tags to know what you’re getting yourself into.
There’s also With Good Intentions by Anirrahn. I’m not sure how the rest of the series go, but those two chapters about Underfell brothers were an amazing read for me - firs one is in the past, where they’re just kids, the second one is around the time Papyrus got accepted in the Royal Guard.
There are probably other fics I’ve forgotten to mention, my memory is usually a mess. Additionally, I’m not sure what are you actually looking for, so I omitted skeleton/skeleton and harem fics recommendations to focus on UF!Papyrus or at least the Underfell brothers.
Hope some of those will suit you! Have a good day <3
