BLOCKBUSTER!!!!!!! A well deserved success. Thank you Meghna Gulzar for this amazing work of art.
In Delhi, for Raazi promotions.
‘ What will Sehmat's personality be like? I thought about that a lot. There was simple, very simple layer to this girl that was very apprehensive of portraying. Not because I didn't think it was correct but I was just like I hope I don't come across as a child but you just come across as a very nice person. That's a very big difference - of being very nice, and being a child. She is a young girl, and a mature girl, but she is a very nice, young, mature girl. Now that to bring is not very easy, because how do you really do that, in what way? So I mentally struggled with that thought of, how will she speak? It's as basic as that. Like what kind of a 'talker' will Sehmat be? How will she communicate? Like how will words escape her mouth? You can tell a person's personality by just the way they speak. Thairaav ki taalash kaafi thi. But that's why I sat, and i prepared and I read and read, cleaning up my hindi, speaking in Urdu, getting the Kashmiri diction right. All those little things added a lot to the way Sehmat speaks, I think.’
A DAUGHTER, A WIFE & A SPY.
Shades Of Sehmat. There is so much more to a woman than what the eye can see.
Dou goliyon ka istemaal karlo, aik mere liye, aur ek apne liye. Dusra koi raasta nehin hai.

Meghna Gulzar Raazi is good one time watch, but its not sharp and edgy as her previous movie Talvar. Raazi is based on true story of the unknown/unforgotten Indian spy Sehmat and her mission during the India-Pakistan 1971 war. The movie starts with present day and then moves back to 1971. The 1st half is more about Sehmat's training and how she enters Pakistan and set up the ground to start her mission. The 1st half is crisp and fast paced and it creates a tension that what if she will get caught! But the 2ne half is little hurried up and the screenplay lacks the much needed thrill, as everything was falling easily on the plate. The climax could have been much better. The one scene which disappointed me was a scene just before the climax between Vicky Kaushal and Ali Bhatt. It couldnt bring out the complexity of the emotions and feeling of both the characters - the patriotism, love for country, love for family and most importantly the love which bloomed between them. Alia bhatt as Sehmat is quite convincing, however her role lacks the much needed depth, as after finishing the movie you won't come back with her. In terms of acting Alia bhatt excels and her trainer Jaideep Ahlawat is quite impressive. Rest other characters has nothing much to do. The dialogues by Gulzaar are quite good. But urdu could have been much better. The songs are ok, i liked Ae watan and dilbaro. But they should have added Arijits version too. Overall its a decent one time watch either in theater or at home. #raazi #myviews #abhivyakti #aliabhatt #meghagulzar #sehmat #moviereview #bollywood
