So he's just watching his mate-alpha!will playing with the children outside so free and loud and happy that it makes his chest clench in want. So basically a serious case of baby fever.

When they get home he all but jumps will and now normally will is more than happy to go along with him but he's curious what's gotten mack so worked up and mack admits he wants children and will doesn't think he's serious at first then he realized that he really actually is so he reminds him they have a new season soon

Now mack is sulking and refusing to talk to him even though it IS logical and mack would absolutely hate and be miserable having to sit out even a singular game let alone all the games because will is absolutely never going to let his pregnant omega anywhere near the ice. With no other options he finally relents and asks #thealpha gc about it and is offended when they all simultaneously tell him a variation of "brother just fuck him are you stupid."

And Mack does, watching in amusement as Will – drunk and out of practice – tries to play notes and sing. It sounds both pleasant and unpleasant (out of tone) at the same time and they both end up giggling about it but Mack makes Will promise to try again when he isn't such a mess.

A few weeks later Will tries again better prepared this time and Mack gets all teary eyed because will plays and sings him the sweetest song ever

So will is always so exasperated by mack being spoiled and bratty but really he finds it adorable and he indulges his every whim because what he wants he gets. Mack starting fights with alphas who look down on him but listening to will when he tells him to back off with only minor grumbling and hissing. Will who helps mack build his first proper nest :( this is where it started btw i just wanted that soft sweet moment of will guiding mack argh he'll be such a sweet alpha

Thinking about an angsty au where due to some handwavey magic and curses will gets transported to a universe where he was never drafted as a shark and he has to navigate his new life and his new team and his new friends while trying to go back home. But the part that has him shaken the most is the stark difference between this universe's mack compared to his mack. He has to remind himself that this isn't his mack, but he can't help himself anytime he instinctively looks for him, seeing nothing but rivalry contempt or worse yet indifference instead of the warmth, love, and pride he's always been used to.
