Seize the Awkward
A reminder from Anet to reach out to your guildmates. ♥
Seize The Awkward
September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and we’ve teamed up with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), The Jed Foundation (JED) and the Ad Council to encourage everyone to reach out to friends who may be struggling with their mental health during these challenging times. These conversations can feel uncomfortable at first, but the Seize the Awkward campaign offers resources, conversation starters, and stories to help you get over the hump and onto the conversations that matter.
To help raise awareness, we’re offering some free items for your account. From September 1 through September 29, log in to Guild Wars 2 and claim your free Seize the Awkward Potion from the Gem Store to add to your novelty wardrobe. If you missed the Seize the Awkward Outfit during February’s Friend/Ships event, you can unlock it for free this month as well. Use these items in Tyria to start a conversation and check in with your guildmates!

Another Fool moon and another tarot night over with!
Since gw2 is currently doing their Friend/ships campaign I figured it’d be cute to get a picture of everyone in the awkward outfits!
I think that reaching out to others is an invaluable skill to work on- and something to know as true is that most people are just as anxious and awkward as you may feel you are! I’m always pushing myself to be more open to others and I always encourage reaching out if you’re thinkin about someone- you never know who may need a friend
Also I have to give a big shout out to our FOOLs guild, first guild I’ve ever really PROPERLY been a part of and it’s been a joy every step <3 Looking forward to doing more stuff with y’all and gw2
Hello everyone, my name is Cal and I'm here with a post/update for #gw2friendships and #seizetheawkward ! Last year I posted about how I met my best friend Archie (@insectomancer ) in Guild Wars 2, specifically in a roleplay guild. One year later...we are dating!! Yesterday was actually our ten month anniversary and it's hard for me to believe but oh my GOD I cannot thank @guildwars2 enough for being a REALLY COOL platform I got to meet my partner on!
Get Ready for a novel or press J to skip a wall of text, sorry in advance!! >.<
So our characters!! We met in a Nightmare Court sylvari roleplay guild, believe it or not! And it's the cutest thing...my character, Nentres (the purple one!) was new to this court, and there was some social event going on...he knew no one, so he kinda just sat by himself. And Xen, who is Archie's character (the blue one!) was also pretty new to the court, and he saw Nentres all alone and decided he'd shuffle over and...show off his mini pet bear. And it was GREAT. The two immediately took to each other and spent a lot of time together, and wouldn't you know it, started dating each other. At this point Archie and I had really only just met but we were getting along well!! And the guild loved the ship! It was lovingly dubbed Xentres, which is PERFECT. A year went by and then during Wintersday, Xen proposed to Nentres!! THREE MONTHS LATER...I got the guts to ask Archie out! And he said yes?? So yeah, our characters got engaged, before we even started dating. WILD. Earlier this month, they were married!! And here Archie and I are celebrating our ten month anniversary. We're in a different rp guild now, but Xentres remains strong! I am so incredibly blessed...for me, I was in a depressive episode for the absolute longest time, a few years ago. And just being able to connect with Archie,... everything is a million times better (I'm tearing up writing this but fight me). He helped me through SO so much, and I'm incredibly happy to be able to call myself his partner. We're long distance for now but have already been able to spend a lot of time together in person and so much more online, it's been so incredibly loving. I really love my Beef!! (He's beef...because bf...beef...heheh) 🥰💞❤️💕
This game has been such a phenomenal muse for me as a roleplayer and artist! I wouldn’t trade my characters, and the relationships I’ve made with other writers, for the world. I met my best friend through Nightmare Court roleplay (of all things), and they quickly became someone I was closer to than anyone else I’ve ever known in my entire life--and that’s just so precious to me. I wouldn’t have ever had that without this game, and we--and our characters--have been on adventures together ever since. In that way, this game has quite literally been life-changing for me, and I love celebrating that! Now I run my own roleplay guild, and it feels amazing to be surrounded by so much love and creativity. #GW2Friendships
In light of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, this Goodtype Tuesday, we’ve teamed up again with the incredible cause @SeizeTheAwkward to highlight the importance of talking about mental health with your friends. If you think a friend is going through a tough time, Seize The Awkward provides resources on signs to look for and tips for how to start the conversations. Your challenge this week is to letter the phrase “Seize the Awkward” or what you might say to start the conversation – it can be as simple as “Are you OK?,” “You’re not alone,” “I’m here for you,” “If you need to talk, I’m here.” In the caption, tell us why it’s important for you to have open conversations about mental health with your friends. Tag your work @goodtype @seizetheawkward and hashtag it #GoodtypeTuesday and #SeizeTheAwkward. Need inspiration? Checkout @seizetheawkward. • Artwork by @simonalander • • As always, we will repost some of our favorites. Remember, this is all for the encouragement and practice of lettering. Only positive comments and constructive feedback welcome. Multiple entries welcome. All skill levels welcome. Please only enter YOUR work. Entering your work does not make it ours. We give credit where credit is due. Above all, HAVE FUN! • This is a 24 hour activity that happens once a week! Join the Goodtype Newsletter to get a head start on the weekly #GoodtypeTuesday prompt. • Know someone who should participate?
