Cinco de ... Hello!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since I began this journey!  I’ve met so many incredible people through this game.  I am thankful for each and every one of you.  Not only is this a fantastic game with engaging (and sometimes heartbreaking) storylines, but the community and fanbase are the biggest reasons why I will always come back. 

Thank you all.  I love you.  And I will see you in game!  ♥

Life has been kicking my ass lately.  Broke up with my fella, job is getting worse, the world is gone to the shitter.   But this ... this just made my year.  Thank you, Felix!  ♥

Seize the Awkward

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and we’ve teamed up with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), The Jed Foundation (JED) and the Ad Council to encourage everyone to reach out to friends who may be struggling with their mental health during these challenging times. These conversations can feel uncomfortable at first, but the Seize the Awkward campaign offers resources, conversation starters, and stories to help you get over the hump and onto the conversations that matter.

To help raise awareness, we’re offering some free items for your account. From September 1 through  September 29, log in to Guild Wars 2 and claim your free Seize the Awkward Potion from the Gem Store  to add to your novelty wardrobe. If you missed the Seize the Awkward Outfit during February’s  Friend/Ships event, you can unlock it for free this month as well. Use these items in Tyria to start a  conversation and check in with your guildmates!

Stan LePard memorialized in this week’s patch

Guild Wars 2 memorializes Stan LePard in-game in today’s big balance patch 

Back in February, we shared the sad news that composer Stan LePard had passed away. LePard was a renowned musical artist who’d penned music for a whole roster of video games, including more than 40 tracks for Guild Wars 2 over the last decade. For MMO players, his crowning achievement was surely the Metal Legion concert performance from the beginning of the Icebrood Saga, which he apparently mixed and mastered. And now, ArenaNet has added a memorial to his life inside the game – live with today’s balance update, in fact.

“ArenaNet is honoring Stan’s life, work, and contributions to Guild Wars 2 by creating an in-game memorial in his honor. In the May 11 game update, a charr NPC embodying Stan named Van Leopard will appear near the Grothmar Valley charr concert stage in the Crag as a nod to Stan’s work on the Metal Legion concert performance. Additionally, a statue memorial to Stan will appear in the city of Lion’s Arch and will allow players to listen to a music playlist of 10 of Stan’s top tracks chosen from his portfolio throughout Guild Wars 2’s history.”

ArenaNet notes that LePard’s fellow composers, including Maclaine Diemer, have sponsored three GDC scholarships in LePard’s name.

My little fansite

So, I made a GW2 fanlisting (fansite) and it’s currently pending approval by The Fanlistings Network.  If you’re not familiar with these, they’re basically fansites for folks to join and discover other fans.  You don’t have to have a website, just a name, country, and valid email.  I’ve run a few off and on over the years and decided to make one for this game.  Yay me?

So ... yeah ... if you’re so inclined, I would be delighted to have folks drop by!

This is just me trying to show the game and this community some love. (and let’s face it, this is also me feeding my probably unhealthy website addiction :))

You can join if you want to, but I won’t be approving new members until after TFL gives me the full-on approval (which should be any day now!).  I’ve already started submitting this site to various webrings and seeking out affiliate sites to link swap with, so hopefully that’ll garner some exposure.  And hey, if I happen to get someone interested in the game, that’s bonus, right?  :D
