there’s a huff , a stomp of heels against the wooden floor & the creak of the door opening to show the beautiful tahani , although her expression filled with anger at the interruption that she knew was going to be happening - although not this soon .
‘‘ about forking time . michael called us twenty minutes ago , tahani . ’’ that damned shellstrop having to put in her town cents , as if tahani hadn’t been aware of what had been sent to her & when it had been sent . crossing the floor to sit at the circle desk that was in michael’s office , folding her hands in a womanly manner on top of the table . ‘‘ i am more than aware of my needed presence , although i hope that this is bloody important because my party is finally not a disaster & i would like to enjoy it . ’’ she said in a matter of fact voice .
‘‘ very well - kimmy , please track the minutes for this meeting & save them in the meetings file on the log . ’’ michael commented as he opened up his books , looking towards his fellow architects .
december 31st , 11:30 pm . meeting about the southside opening & glitches in the universe .
michael : the southside has just a few more finishing touches on some buildings , although it is no longer off limits . the sinkhole has also been taken care of in the northside - school will begin once again . the southside still is finding it’s feel , therefore at the moment it will be dedicated to artwork and a few shopping malls .
eleanor : don’t we have enough shopping malls ? oh ----- what about a bowling alley ? we could even hire a few people to pretend to be the pins .
chidi : that is extremely unethical , eleanor .
michael : off topic . the glitches have gotten the attention of many people within the good place . betty cooper being one them , along with some stragglers who want to act cool . jessica hamby , anakin skywalker , dallas winston ----
jason : not to step on your toes , but if there was a sinkhole back in florida i’d wanna check it out .
eleanor : you also have a previous vampire , gang member & evil alien on that list .

tahani : very well , is that all ? i’m sure that the bar is getting low in stock & when i left , there were two males attempting to sing karaoke without a karaoke box & that is far from allowed at my elegant party .
michael : i suppose . although we will have to meet later in the week , making sure that we begin to plan out more things for the south side .
kimmy smiled & poked her nose , allowing the members to know that they were free to speak without having to worry about being put on the notes that were saved in the meetings file . jason was the first to talk , leaning back in his seat to play with the strings to his hat - a hat that was definitely not necessary . ‘‘ i’ve been quite bored of what’s going on around here . i thought i signed up for some entertainment , dude . ’’ he stated , poking michael under the table with his toe . ‘‘ do not touch me , jason . ’’ michael said quickly , packing up his things .
eleanor was already beginning to make her way back down to the party , tahani by her side , as if eleanor was going to miss out on more free booze . chidi is found moving back & forth in the room , hands in his pockets as he bites his tongue for as long as he can . ‘‘ ethically speaking --- ’’ but he’s cut off by jason’s groan , soon a foot stomping on the floor with a dramatic nature . ‘‘ dude , this ethnically bullshirt is just getting on everyone’s nerves . we’re babysitting dead people & they aren’t even zombies . ’’
an eye roll , michael leaves the last two architects in the office , the silence hitting them both . the close is dangerously close to midnight as the pair begin their argument . jason wanting to team with eleanor to torture some of the residents while chidi is drowning him out with ethical purposes & statements that jason could barely follow from the large words that were being thrown at him .
‘‘ come on dude ---- i mean , listen --- hear me out ! not actual torture , like emotional turmoil --- like when you have to make a decision . ’’ jason suggested , leaning on the desk . ‘‘ that’s just rude , it is not my fault that i must weigh all my option before i begin to think of a dedicated decision . ’’ chidi stated , hearing the clock ticking . they were only a few minutes away from midnight & tahani was going to have both him & jason thrown out of the good place if they were not there for the new year . ‘‘ i mean , there was this one time , that i had a dream that i made it really big in florida . like everyone was yellin’ my name , right man ? then i woke up & people were only yelling my name because they thought i was dead with how still i was . kind of depressing . i mean ---- dude , we could fork with their memories . ’’
right then , a loud boom echoed in the good place , a very slight shift in the ground & it’s chidi’s eyes that give away when happened - jason’s hand resting on the button . the button only michael was supposed to touch . ‘‘ ah ----------- shirt . ’’ he muttered , looking up at chidi with an innocent smile .

example : beck best memory was the beginning of her career after her book about peach - she’s going to wake up & believe that she never got to be a writer because no one took on her book .
now , your character may accept these memories or they may challenge them - believing that there once was a good memory in its place .

the southside is also open , it is more recreational & if you ask for something to be put in the southside , it will appear within a few hours once kimmy is given the information .
school is back in session , if you would like to join - kimmy has the outline of each class if you would like to ask her anything .
the snow is falling beautifully on the grounds . coating the ground in a beautiful white glow , making the trees look like they were glistening under the sunlight . residents have mixed feelings , those who loathe the winter are cooped up in their homes , drinking hot chocolate or tea while others are running around in the white , cold flurries like they are children once again .
walking through the downtown , you can see the lights beginning to be attached outside the shops & snowmen being built around every corner . there are holiday treats beginning to be introduced in your favourite coffee shop or froyo stand , wanting to get everyone into the holiday spirit . although there is something lingering in the back of everyone’s mind , a question that is lingering so much that it’s beginning to cause a disturbance in the air . is this ----- actually ----- the good place ?
it’s about five in the evening when the architect group begin to feel an unease in their bodies , around six in the evening when the sun begins to rise - or at least something that is as bright as the sun . residents quickly move out of restaurants , run out of their homes & stare up at the sky , trying to shade their eyes from the bright light that is shining . but , as soon as they have managed to see it , it’s gone & back to the normal sunset that should be making itself known .
they simply believe it is just a glitch , michael coming on the main screen to notify them that it was just a mishap in the south side as they are doing construction . moving towards the south side , the architects make sure to keep their distance - not wanting to harm themselves or the residents , it could give everything away . that’s when they find them , stunned & unmoving on the other side of the yellow tape . before they could even reach towards them to pull them back into the regular timed community , they hear the screams .
the north side is filled with people running , the ground shaking underneath their feet . people are shoving others , trying to get to the downtown area or to either the east or west - although neither of those places are safe at the moment either . the east side has endless high - pitched screeches , like a couple dozen birds yelling in the sky but their beaks right next to your ears . the west side is getting blinded once again by the bright lights , shining through their curtains & causing them to ask kimmy for sunglasses as if they’re going out of style .
it’s eight in the evening when everyone is finally called down to the downtown area , the architects trying to keep their calm . it’s clear that information is being withheld - clearly something had happened in the south side that they will not tell the residents , keeping it very straight forward . all you hear is that school is cancelled and that the field is off limits - no exceptions . but are you even going to listen to them ? look at what happened the last time you were told to not go somewhere .

there’s a sinkhole ! there is no information given to the residents as to what caused the sinkhole - but there will be more coming soon !
school is cancelled , as the sinkhole is taking up the entire field where sports and flying lessons took place . although the rest of the northside is quite untouched - other than a few things tipped over in households or some broken glass , there is always an architect nearby to make sure no one is trespassing .
the east side got the loud noises when the sinkhole was making itself known , feeling like there were a bunch of crows screeching in your ears , while the west side got the blinding light once again - only closer this time . the north side felt like an earth quake .
although it’s said to not venture that way , we all know some characters are curious little menaces' & will happen to move that way . that’s alright ! just try to be the first one to tell the rest it’s a sinkhole , or keep it a secret ! what better than to have one up on the architects , right ?

well , i would like to officially welcome you to the good place . i’m sure you are all wondering why you are here , but we will get more into that later as we experience the afterlife as a whole . take a look around , these are your neighbours , friends , significant others & your community members . during your time on earth , all of us here at the good place , had taken it upon ourselves to watch you carefully & take careful consideration in picking you , specifically . we have our own point system , which you will see on the screen behind us , where you would gain simple points such as holding a door for someone or handing some money to someone that was less fortunate as you . we did track some of the negative things that you have done in your life , but they ---- usually balanced out the good . the overall existence of this place was built with you and for you , you were chosen for a purpose & we hope that purpose will become clear to you during your stay here . now , we shall begin with the briefings .
LOCATIONS
i’m sure that you have noticed that this place is quite large ! we have many establishments throughout this town & they were all made to fit the likings of our fellow community members .
𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄
where you will find a lot of marine life and water . i’m sure that many of you who have enjoyed water during your time on earth have found yourselves situated in a home directed that way . you will find canoes and row boats that will allow you to enjoy some peace on the lake , as well as a beautiful waterfall just around the bend . while here , we encourage you to take a look around the ponds , we have some amazing fish that would love to have some of the food that is sold in the downtown area . we also encourage you to take a nice hike up the waterfall , with a cliff right off to the right . once you hit the destination , maybe have a wonderful picnic with a loved one or try some cliff diving if you were much too frightened before on earth .
𝐖𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄
the wooden area that many people enjoy when they need some peace and quiet . there are a few households within this neighbourhood , usually selected for people who enjoyed the seclusion and warmth of being connected to nature . our local greenhouses are kept up there , you can find some wonderful plants that you could take home or take a few selfies with the help of kimmy to hang up in your home . we also have the community garden out that way , where you can grow your own vegetables or even help gather some ingredients for the restaurants as some extra credit options towards gaining more points ( yes , you can still gain them here ! ) . we have a few trails within this area as well , where you can feel one on one with nature once again , where the sun will beat on your face ; you can practically hear the bugs buzzing around you !
𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐇 𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐄
where many of you may usually find yourselves , it allows itself to be integrated with the downtown area just behind you . you’ll be able to see the large households that are within that area , where many of our community members are staying , either by their lonesome or with someone they believe to be close to them . in the north side , you’ll find a lot of educational things , including our school for the afterlife . the school is still working out some last minute kinks alongside our trusty kimmy , but will be up & running within the next week , so make sure that you take some time to visit the campus & take a good look at the classes that will be offered . we would love to keep you educated on things around the good place during your stay here . while school can be quite boring , i’m sure we can rope you all into attending with the small bribery of flying ! you have all witnessed it briefly during our halloween event , but we will be having mandatory flying lessons for everyone who joins the school in the beautiful courtyard out back . you like gymnastics ? well we can find you some balance beams . football ? well what is the afterlife without some tackling ? cheerleading ? well you’re in for a treat because i sure would love to hear some fun rhymes ! you name it , we got it .

is currently under construction , so we do ask that you avoid that area at this moment . the weather is not corresponding correctly to the systems we have put into place & we definitely do not want a mix up with any of you . so please , we ask that you do not move past the colourful rainbow tape that is surrounding the south side until the construction of that area is done . we are working very diligently to get it up & running as i am sure many of you are hoping to find yourself located in that wing !

the place that you will always find yourself wanting to come ! we have a little bit of this & a little bit of that for everyones liking . there are local restaurants around town that will serve you anything that you could dream of ! many of which could be your favourite meals , favourite drinks ---- oh & did we mention the endless options for desserts ? if you look around , we also have endless froyo stations ; many of which will have flavours that create a very similar feeling to joy & happiness . ever wonderful what it would taste like after getting straight a’s on your exams ? what about the feeling of warmth after being outside in the cold all day ? well i’m sure we can mix up something for you ! we also have entertainment sectors such as bars , clubs , even a movie theater to play your favourite movies from when you were on earth ! bookstores , florists , clothing stores , you name it ! it may look a bit confusing on the outside , with you questioning our tastes but we have never questioned you & i cross my heart that the moment you walk into any of our stores , you will always find something tailored to your specific tastes !
i am sure that you all have many questions , we are here to always help you ! we shall go over the wonderful rules that we have in the good place & what is deemed appropriate .
RULES
there will be a zero tolerance violence policy . although we do not have the jurisdiction within the good place to arrest , but you will be losing points with violence .
you are free to ask kimmy any questions that you deem necessary , but they must be appropriate . kimmy will refuse to answer anything that is not needed .
as stated earlier , we will not allow anyone in the south side of the good place at the moment . if found there , you will be brought into my ( michael’s ) office & punishments will be discussed between the architects .
WHAT IS THERE TO DO ?
well good question ! you are able to sign up for the local school classes that kimmy will listen later in the weekend , we do hope that we get some good responses ! we’ve worked hard to coordinate the classes ! we also allow you to work in the local agencies , but please be aware that money is not a thing in the good place ! you do receive points towards your community involvement & that will boost you up on the scale in the architects system . we welcome you to join the local clean up group that dedicates themselves to cleaning up any possible garbage that is fluttering on the streets , or maybe you are interested in the party planning committee , which is usually run by tahani but we would love to have more people join & put in their ideas !
LITTLE THINGS TO NOTE
be aware that the good place is tactical to your needs & wants . if you don’t enjoy someone using a curse word , then your mind will blank it out & possibly replace it with a new word . if you are fluent in another language , we have all implanted a translator in your mind . although someone might be speaking english to you , they could actually be speaking french or spanish but you are able to translate it instantly .
housing units are there for your liking , if you would like to move in with someone , we will allow that but please run it by kimmy or myself ( michael ) to let us know that you will be moving so we can use your old home for something enjoyable for other community members or reinvent it into a new home for someone that will be joining us .

ESME CULLEN
HAPPIEST MEMORY: falling in love with carlisle, and realizing it was reciprocated. without going into details, esme’s first marriage wasn’t exactly a happy one (it was really, really bad for her) and to fall in love with someone as amazing as carlisle, and to have him love her back… the moment she realized all that? the best time of her life, and she had plenty of good moments after that, thanks to her family.
ALTERED MEMORY: falling just as deeply in love with carlisle, but her love not being reciprocated. she managed to deal with it whilst remaining with carlisle and edward (and maybe more cullens; i’m not good at timelines) for a little while, but eventually she couldn’t stand it anymore and left. aka, her heart was broken time and time again. constantly, for years and years.
WILL ESME CHALLENGE IT? yes, definitely! especially if she gets to talk with some of the other cullens!
KOL MIKAELSON
HAPPIEST MEMORY: ( DEATH TW ) it’s very bittersweet, but seeing his siblings surrounding him as he died (the second and final time) was his happiest memory. when he said “this is all i’ve ever wanted”, he meant it. kol always knew he wasn’t a part of the whole “always and forever” thing, no matter how much he secretly wished for it, so for them to finally act like they cared about him… he was dying, but he felt a weight get lifted off his shoulders, and it meant oh so much to him. and he doesn’t have all that many happy memories in his life and un-life, so yeah...
ALTERED MEMORY: he died alone with only davina by his side. his siblings knew what was happening, but they didn’t show up. they therefore confirmed once and for all what he had been thinking for a long time now: they didn’t care about him, and he wasn’t one of them in their eyes.
WILL KOL CHALLENGE IT? he might, but it’s not a sure thing.
PIPER HALLIWELL
HAPPIEST MEMORY: getting married to leo. their marriage was chaotic, obviously, and it took them three times to get it right, but… leo is/was the love of piper’s life, and he helped her focus on her and her love for him was so deep, and her family was there and… it meant so much to piper. (had i not made piper die before having her kids [lowkey hate myself for that, by the way], the first time she held wyatt and the first time she held chris would have been it!)
ALTERED MEMORY: the chaos of the marriage was too much, and the elders got involved and took leo away. he came back, but when he did, he told piper that getting married just “wasn’t worth it”, thus ending their relationship.
WILL PIPER CHALLENGE IT? probably, yes. it might take her a bit longer than for others, though.
WENDY DARLING
HAPPIEST MEMORY: her best memory was definitely the night when she and her brothers flew to neverland with peter pan. the flying, being around peter, the promise of never having to grow up… there truly is no better memory to wendy.
ALTERED MEMORY: on the night peter brought the darlings to neverland, wendy was unable to fly due to her inability to think of happy enough memories, but john and michael left with peter anyway, leaving wendy alone. in this false memory, her brothers never came back, and she never got over it.
WILL WENDY CHALLENGE IT? yes, but mostly because she’s a nerd and after talking to people involved in her memories, her brain most likely went like “wait...”
sabrina ; that harvey still loved her and wanted her back , that she had shown up in his room and even though she desperately wanted to get back together she said no . to protect him . but even knowing that the man still loved her eased her -- it did make it much more difficult to leave as she did .
theodore ; meeting the march sisters and loving them as his own -- though this feeling was different with jo . he considered meg , amy and beth to be his sisters -- sharing a bond with them all that made life worth living .
sodapop ; reuniting with his brothers , knowing that ponyboy was going to be okay . considering the boys ( along with the other greasers ) were all sodapop had , he had spent countless nights unable to sleep over the thoughts of it all .
anakin ; even with all that had happened between them , padme still loved him . she still tried to see the good that was within him , that very good that would lead to his arrival at the good place . she never lost faith in him , even when he truly deserved to be given up on .
alice ; of meeting the cullens , being embraced into their family as if she was one of their own . the connection with her brothers -- her sister , everything .
draco ; although his time at hogwarts was spent terrorizing the trio , he adored their company along with his fellow slytherins . the entirety to hogwarts had been his escape from home , within the castle walls felt much more like home to him .
peter ; anything to do with neverland . peter adored it all there , feeling as though he was the king of the area . his best stories -- best memories are all planted withtin neverland .

sabrina ; harvey rejected her . had no desire to ever be back with her as he could never love a witch and gave his blessing for a new relationship with nick as he loved someone else regardless . sabrina's death memory has been warped to make her believe she died alone as harvey never showed .
theodore ; the entire march family grew to hate him , stopping all contact with him shortly after his failed proposal . laurie believes that they disliked him ever since he had met them and that jo especially hated him , believing the girls felt his proposal to be a joke .
sodapop ; sodapop believes ponyboy perished in the fire . that dallas had not been able to reach either johnny or ponyboy in time . he's frustrated that ponyboy is not in the good place and feels as though he is to blame for not looking out for his little brother .
anakin ; padme gave up on him shortly after finding out she was pregnant . she left , losing complete and utter faith for him and ultimately breaking his heart in the process . anakin believes this is what pushed him to the dark side .
alice ; the cullens wanted nothing to do with her , feeling as though she was misplaced and would not be a valuable addition to their family . alice lived out her remaining days in isolation . alone .
draco ; draco was sorted into hufflepuff , infuriating his father and forcing him to drop out of hogwarts shortly before his fifth year . he had spent his years at hogwarts completely friendless , having nothing in common with his fellow hufflepuffs .
peter ; captain hook won . he got his revenge on peter which landed peter here , having persuaded tinkerbell , the lost boys and wendy to help with peter’s demise . after peter's death , captain hook took over neverland entirely -- destroying it .
