I had this moment of like "wait if I hc Nina to be Camilla's daughter, then why is she so hellbent on being Forrest's retainer and not just a princess herself?" but I think there's a perfect explanation. Not only does Camilla herself renounce the crown at the end of Fates, but Nina also strikes me as the kind of person who, similarly to Camilla, doesn't exactly WANT to be a princess. She's much happier helping out instead. That is a little confusing in general just because she's all eat the rich and then canonically decides to work for Forrest in heirs of fate and kinda in their supports as well lmfao but oh well plot holes are plot holes I suppose. Like even if she's not Camilla's daughter it's canon that she works for Forrest because Niles worked for Leo but like she lowkey has beef with Niles so why would she follow in his footsteps and do exactly what she disliked about him lmfao. Unless this takes place after Hoshidan festival where they do sorta reconcile. Idk if somebody has a better explanation for this (not Camilla!Nina just why Nina in general pulls the "I hate the rich but also we should be best friends Forrest" card), please enlighten me lmao bc I don't understand it 😭
Similarly, that can explain why Selena!Soleil wants to be Siegbert's retainer but not Nina's even though she's the daughter of both Xander's retainer AND Camilla's - because Nina herself probably said absolutely not or something.
I also feel like Nina wanting to be Forrest's retainer makes perfect sense in the context of their parents, and almost the opposite relationship that Camilla and Leo had. Camilla was doting to all of her siblings, but Leo received the least love from her. Meanwhile, Nina seemingly only really gives Forrest a lot of love compared to Siegbert (or Ophelia, seeing as they don't have a support lmao). And her fantasizing about Forrest even though he's her half cousin unfortunately also makes a LOT of sense for somebody who's Camilla "I'm definitely not horny for Corrin" Fire Emblem's kid 😭
