So I was going thru the Nox verse tag again. While doing that, I had a Big Brain Moment. A logical explanation for /why/ LCs are spectacularly bad at self care/preservation/remembering to eat, all that. It's the draconic instinct. Dragons don't generally need to really defend themselves, they're covered in armor that very little can actually dent, nevermind get past. They genuinely don't need to eat for days, they usually eat big meals that take actual days to digest before they need more.

Honestly that's a hilarious thought and I may or may not be keeping it now, thanks.

Going back thru the Nox tag, & Im at the part of the Roadtrip of Crossovers with Nox & Noctis. You think at some point Noctis has a lightbulb moment? Like, *this* is why Nox is so chill abt everything. He's been tripping into other dimensions for *years* & after a while things just stop phasing you unless it's Really Big/Really Personal. Also that at some point, Noctis trips along with Nox to a vaguely canon-like verse & they meet themselves, & Noctis wonders how many times *that's* happened.

Oh definitely. There is definitely a moment where Noctis finally internalizes that this wild roller coaster roadtrip is pretty normal for Nox. That he keeps falling into other worlds, meeting people and mythical creatures and fighting monsters or demons or whatever just- on the semi-regular. He even has worlds he falls into more than once and has *friends* there.

Noctis's mind is kind of blown. For a good ten minutes.

No wonder his brother is usually so chill.

Noctis is kind of afraid to ask if he's ever met versions of them before, then they do end up tripping into some other FFXV world and Nox seems only mildly surprised. Nox sees his look and offhandedly says coming to worlds where he has a counterpart are pretty rare, on the scale of things. Noctis is just-

in relation to Qrow and Raven as dragontaurs with the zoomies. My cat had zoomies a few hours ago, and while he was barreling down the stairs through the curtain (the curtain is a study thing, it's fine) he damn near barreled into *me* before he put on the metaphorical breaks. So, the twins accidentally running into a tree/someone/each other would be a thing that might happen. Possibly they even accidentally run into someone Plot Relevant?

That would actually be a HILARIOUS way for them to encounter the natives to Nox!Taur verse. Like- they have the zoomies and one of them accidentally slams right into Cor or something XD.

what was it Titus realized at the end of that ficbit in Fangs and Feathers? what's the general reaction to Xanxus the Foul-Mouthed Feral Bastard Prince who is Captain Darutos' nephew?

I honestly don’t remember the exact details of what was going through my head when I wrote this so ... sorry? I genuinely don’t remember. Probably something about how Xanxus calmed down when his magic came in contact with Noctis’s and how that implies some stuff about LC instincts and how that might have made his rage issues worse. Or something.

Mostly shock and horror because he’s so .... XANXUS. He’s not like Titus OR Regis and nobody really knows how to handle him in all his feral glory.

The nobles hate his guts basically instantly. The Kingsglaive kinda give up and revert to treating him like they would a semi-feral Coeurl in their territory and are surprised at how effective that is.

Regis has many, many a Crisis™ over how to cope with his newly discovered son.

I'll fess up. I was the Wizard's Repository Anon. That other anon ask wasn't me, tho. And, to elaborate, it was partly inspired by PotC, but also a long Extremely Good Naruto fic called Of Harrowed Hearts, as well as the kind of magical logic im sort of familiar with from Alice in Wonderland. The kinds of magic all just kinda rhyme and go together, to me.

That sounds cool. I was never ... to big a fan of Alice and Wonderland, but it also fits in the vein of some other zany fantasy novels I enjoyed so I get where you’re coming from.

i have a new hc and i have to share! Lucis Caelums aren't allowed to dress themselves, not fashion wise, because if left to their own devices, Messes like Ardyn is what happens. ALL of them, from Somnus on down, are Like That. Their wardrobe is always chosen by Someone Else, some Amicita up the Line somewhere got it made into Law.

I can definitely see this being a Thing XD. Noctis is the outlier in that he’s allowed to choose his own clothes .... but only from among a set of choices Ignis has pre-approved. Naturally, because he’s an LC and he has to do SOMETHING fashion terrible, he chooses all black and leather all the time no matter the weather. Ignis is a Despair but he can’t give the job to Gladio since Gladio would just have Noctis going around shirtless all the time (Gladio is the rare case of an Amicitia with an LC’s ability in fashion, Clarus is a Despair).

Regis is perfectly content to have Clarus or Weskham or the royal tailors pick out his clothes, as long as he gets his pinstripes once in a while. He likes pinstripes. The tailors accommodate if only because not doing so will lead to Regis wanted to wear something Even Worse.

I can see all the royal tailors, when the Ardyn Reveal happens in any of the Nox verses, slapping their heads and going OF COURSE. IT’S SO OBVIOUS. OF COURSE HE’S AN LC LOOK AT HIS FASHION CHOICES and are genuinely upset they didn’t realize it early. Then they are Despairs because this means they have to wrangle an LC that is USED TO MAKING HIS OWN FASHION CHOICES back into some semblance of decency and we all know how Stubborn LC’s are.

They end up allowing the Hat to stay. The Hat is for Ardyn what pinstripes are for Regis, a necessary fashion sacrifice to appease them into wearing something non-eye blinding. XPP

They are actually very surprised that, at first glance, Nox can Dress Himself, he tends to pick reasonable things if always long-sleeved and dark colored and he doesn’t go for wacky patterns. Little do they know that Nox is still subconsciously operating on Ignis’s pre-approved Fashion Choices with a few of the pre-approved Fashions of past Amicitia’s and Scientia’s thrown in. This is honestly what convinces the tailors that Nox is only half LC, because LOOK. LOOK HE DOESN’T GO FOR POLKA DOTS OR CRAZY COLOR COMBOS. LOOK HE PICKS THINGS THAT ARE ACTUALLY VAGUELY ACCEPTABLE FOR THE EYES OF ALL NEARBY HUMANITY. LOOK LOOK LOOK.

Nox, internally: Reciting every lecture Ignis ever gave on fashion to himself as he chooses so that his hands don’t stray for the eye-bleeding bolts of fabric Right Over There. Stick with black, grey, and dark blue. Ohhh maybe a bit of dark red, but that’s it. Stick with those.

HOPE CAN BE LIGHTNING'S SHIELD. i mean, she doesn't strictly /need/ one, she can kick All The Ass on her lonesome, but no way in all hells is he leaving her again. Lightning might just start swearing him in as her Shield right then and there. Not like there's an Amicita handy.

Hmmmmm maybe! But I’d rather they be a ship and I don’t know if a Shield can marry their monarch? Keeping the lines separate and all that? That and if he marries her he’ll be the KING and a King can’t be a Shield.

Also I kinda-sorta-really want to make LOQI her Shield. I legit have no idea why the thought popped into my head but it did and now it won’t LEAVE (also I never get to play with Loqi and this is my excuse) But like- I’d make him a little bit older than in canon for this to work, but it would basically be Lightning trips into another dimension (as LCs are prone to do XDD) but this time for whatever reason (Nif science experiment gone wrong? Sheer bad luck? Gleeful meddling of the Astrals?) Loqi is ALSO in that other dimension and they are forced to work together and Loqi goes from “I hate this woman” to “I strongly dislike this woman but I need her alive right now” to “wow she kicks butt” to “WHY YOU NO HAVE BRAINCELL GET BACK HERE IDIOT WOMAN” and surprises both of them by guarding her back from a hit even after their alliance is supposed to be over.

Anyway they would go back to their proper dimension but like- maybe Lightning made a few comments on how Loqi’s precious empire isn’t as noble as he first thought, where does he think MT units come from REALLY (since Lightning knows about Prompto and all) and Loqi doesn’t believe her but DOES investigate and then shows up in Lucis several months later, shaken and wild eyed and asks to defect in exchange for information on the empire he is thoroughly disillusioned about.

Lightning then takes GREAT glee in making the royal council flip their lids by claiming this defector as her Shield.

Loqi is speechless and torn. On one hand, a place for him that isn’t a dungeon and being a royal Shield is ... a lot of prestige, very soothing for his battered Nobleman Ego. On the other ... this means he’ll be stuck being Lightning’s Braincell for the rest of his life just like during their inter-dimensional jaunt.
