he hates wearing dress robes , much too tight and too stuffy to fit all of the energy coursing through sirius black . but he does look spectacular , so at least there’s an upside . he checks himself one last time in the mirror before wandering out to meet james and lily’s guests , to perform the duties of the best man to the best of his ability and humiliate prongs as publicly , and as loudly , as is possible . as flippant as he may be , however , sirius feels a swell of emotion with the knowledge that he will see his best friends married today , watching the boy become a man before his very eyes and with probably the greatest woman he’s ever known by his side — not that he would say that to their faces .
it takes only a moment for his eyes to land on remus once he makes his way back out , his presence an immediate and gut punching excitement . it has been so long that he wondered if he’d get away long enough to make it to the wedding but there he is , and sirius is already running at him , throwing himself into his arms , wrapping his legs around him and ruffling his hair with rough , tattooed hands . “ you bloody made it ! why didn’t you tell me?! ”
