leaning against the wall , remus had his eyes shut , breathing deeply && trying to find his feet . though everything seemed like it was SPINNING . you'd think after so long he'd be used to this . a spark of a memory from when he was younger , when the healer sat on his bed && explained to him that it would , indeed , get worse .

head pressed against the wall , remus had his eyes closed before feeling sirius' fingers wrap around his wrist , then drape his arm around his shoulder . ❝ lay down ? ❞ remus queried . ❝ yes i SUPPOSE that is .... something i should do . ❞ he deflated before pushing himself up from the wall . // @dementrd

he  had  never  tiptoed  around  remus,  and  he  never  would.  but  he  is  cautious  when  he  touches  him  for  a  plethora  of  reasons  which  have  nothing  to  do  with  the  lycanthropy  which  seems  to  tear  at  his  friend  until  he  is  but  aching  limbs  and  desperation  for  the  comfort  of  a  warm  bed.  he  can  see  that  in  him  now,  and  so  sirius  gently  takes  hold  of  his  wrist,  thumb  brushing  over  his  pulse  before  tugging  his  arm  to  wind  around  his  shoulder.  his  eyes  glance  upward,  climbing  the  long  length  of  remus  lupin  to  land  on  a  tired  gaze,  shadows  pooling  in  the  pale  skin  he  studies  so  well.  “you  suppose?  you  look  to  be  about  five  seconds  from  collapsing,  moony.”  he  scoffs  and  tugs  his  friend  alongside  him,  elegant  fingers  remaining  wound  around  his  scarred  wrist  as  they  move,  each  aching  step  bringing  them  closer  to  remus's  bed  and  the  respite  which  he  hopes  sleep  will  offer  to  him.  does  it  always  feel  this  way  for  him?  each  step  weighted  and  shaken,  it's  as  though  he  can  feel  remus's  body  jolting  with  pain  as  they  walk.  “i  know  it  hurts,  but  it'll  be  worth  it  to  get  you  to  bed,  remus.  just…  lean  on  me,  yeah?”  a  quiet  kindness  from  someone  so  well  known  to  be  —  mean.

it feels like it's been far too long since she's seen sirius. the rare times they had been put together for order missions in between her auror training...it's been hard. ever since he chose to go to the potters instead of her family home, there'd been such a distance between them that she hated. sirius has always been like a brother to her. even if they had the same taste in men. she wears her hair dark -- bright pink seemed wrong in the aftermath of the war. her eyebrows rose, eyes fluttering slightly in confusion as she looked up at him. "you -- think i'm still upset about that? for -- fucksake sirius, i was fifteen." she laughs, because of course she does. tonks always found a way to brighten things up. she reaches over to take his hand and giving his hand a squeeze. "i've missed you. come home with me. mum misses you, too. bring remus. none of us should be alone right now."

it's  like  a  shock  of  instant  stress  to  think  of  james,  reminded  of  his  best  friend  as  he  thinks  back  to  the  moment  he  had  run  from  grimmauld  place  and  into  the  arms  waiting  for  him  within  the  potter  household.  he  had  shunned  the  sorry  lot  of  them,  and  in  the  process  had  lost  tonks  who  had  never  subscribed  to  the  old  ways  of  thinking  anyway.  it  was  just  easier  to  have  a  clean  break,  in  many  ways.  “oh  —  well  you  were  pissed  about  it  at  the  time.”  he  reminds  her,  a  brow  arched;  her  temper  is  something  as  full  of  sparkling  energy  as  the  woman  herself,  and  it  is  equally  something  he  doesn't  wish  to  find  himself  on  the  receiving  end  of  anytime  soon.  he  forces  himself  not  to  flinch  when  she  reaches  for  him,  she  who  has  always  been  gentle  with  sirius  is  still  a  part  of  the  bloodline  which  had  done  nothing  but  pick  at  the  wounds  they  had  created  in  him,  and  he  hates  himself  for  the  momentary  flash  of  fear  which  he  swiftly  shuns.  “i  doubt  she  wants  to  see  me,”  he  tries  to  wave  it  off,  imagining  he  and  his  boyfriend  sat  politely  on  the  edge  of  andromeda's  couch,  how  nervous  his  energy  would  be  as  he  fights  off  every  urge  to  run,  and  how  remus  would  feel  it  radiating  off  of  him.  “and  remus  —  he's  so  bloody  busy,  i  barely  get  him  in  our  flat  these  days,  let  alone  over  to  your  place  for  tea.”  he  snorts,  something  sad  lingering  in  the  silver  of  his  gaze.  he  cannot  do  it,  he  cannot  be  the  sweet  and  open  cousin  which  she  so  willingly  is  for  him.

“moony?”  it's  late,  and  sirius  can  so  clearly  hear  the  strange  quality  to  remus's  voice  on  the  other  end  of  the  phone,  the  slurring  of  words  and  the  pain  littering  his  friend's  voice.  they've  been  apart  for  what  feels  like  forever,  each  day  spread  out  between  them  measured  by  how  much  he  misses  him.  his  eyes  fall  shut  as  he  listens,  even  if  it  is  nonsense  there  is  comfort  in  the  sound  of  remus's  voice,  even  if  he  will  regret  every  word  when  he  wakes  up  the  following  day  —  if  he  remembers.  it's  like  a  sickness,  these  feelings.  remus  consumes  him,  he  always  has  from  the  moment  he  looked  at  him  and  felt  his  heart  beat  that  little  bit  faster.  “you're  drunk.”  he  sits  up  in  bed,  the  lamp  flickering  on  as  he  runs  a  tired  hand  through  his  hair,  the  strands  a  tangled  mess  and  a  sure  sign  that  he  had  tossed  and  turned  all  night.  usually  it's  him  getting  drunk  and  allowing  his  grief  to  take  him  over,  to  give  into  the  pain  of  losing  what  was  between  them  and  fall  apart  under  the  wanting  which  has  never  left  him.  he  swallows,  moving  to  scramble  from  his  bed  and  find  some  pants  to  pull  on,  already  having  slept  restlessly  in  one  of  remus's  old  jumpers.  “where  are  you?  i'll  come  get  you.” ( @selenophobiic )
