I have something important to say. Create the things you think don’t matter. Yeah, maybe you have something honest to write, paint, draw, stitch, say in whatever abstract form; but you think it won’t lead anywhere or hit home with anyone you share it with. So what? Maybe you’re the only one who will see or benefit from it. My personal example is in writing and painting. I am learning to paint slowly and through going in blind as I find study tedious and tedium intolerable. We each have to navigate our weaknesses and outsmart ourselves as often as possible. Every now and then someone says; ‘I’ve decided to get into painting too’ and that’s enough for me to make it worthwhile even without the myriad other personal benefits. Sometimes I get a thought in my head but when I sit to jot it down, the strong notion that it is or will be ultimately pointless at times prevents action. These tasks are never pointless. They serve as attempts, small miracles that lead elsewhere and always always always toward growth. Even if served only as a mark in time to observe and reflect upon, it’s hardly a dismissible only. Curiosity for it’s own sake must be honoured and explored, so that it may return. Perpetually unexplored curiosity packs up and moves out, or worse. Do you want your curiosity to DIE? It’s screaming at you with one hand on the self-destruct button at all times. TL/DR: and in honour of Jenny Holzer / this yelling fad which I love btw: CREATE THINGS YOU THINK DON’T MATTER CURIOSITY FOR IT’S OWN SAKE MUST BE HONOURED GO BLINDLY IMPLEMENT ‘SO WHAT’ DON’T LIE DON’T LOOK AWAY OUTSMART YOURSELF
