Daily Equestria Sketches - 30 Day compilation/Review
---
Hello! Hope everyone's day is well!
Someone had asked for a compilation of all of the dailies made up to this point, so here it is! I figure to add some additional thoughts below the break if anyone feels like reading a lot of text haha.
In the meantime, cheers!
Wohoo! Have made it to day 30 of dailies. Since there has been the occasional "bonus" on any given day its not exactly 30 individual sketches but rather 33.
I have had a lot of fun making these sketches, and I'm very happy to see others seem to like them too. Here's to hoping I can continue the dailies without interruption for another 30 days!
For everyone who has liked, re-blogged dailies or have sent asks or replies on the regular updates, thank you. I sincerely hope that others continue to enjoy seeing them as much as I have enjoyed making them.
As a side note, I wanted to say why I decided to make dailies in the first place; it began with a question! I have had a few asks sitting in my ask-box [very sorry for those who sent them and still without answer!] in regards to my art style over the years.
Particularly, my "Polygonal" or "Line-less" style I use for everything else, such as when answering asks.
I began this blog in 2016, and fundamentally the way I make the "line-less" style has remained unchanged since this ask I answered years ago There is a sketch -> I import that sketch into a vector tool like Inkscape -> And try to make something cool. Hopefully!
This specific style can admittedly be very draining sometimes, since every point you see, whether its a mane or a smoke of magic had to be placed exactly where I put it, and can be hard on my eyes while I make it. never-mind responsibilities and other life things which also take up much of any given day.. I also don't always have my art tablet and resort to ball-point pens along any paper I can find; since for many days I have been quite busy.
So, I started making dailies, because I always want to make art, but I don't always have a lot of time, as I am sure many people can say the same. So too, sometimes I want to make art but... I don't have the energy to make it or, more often than not, I am afraid that it isn't good enough. It has usually been the latter, and this has been the case for almost any piece I have made, sketches or otherwise.
Daily Equestria Sketches are made differently; they are made using Krita. Time will tell if I experiment with the likes of CSP or otherwise. But the process, at least to me, feels different. Whereas I may spend a minute or more on a single stripe of a mane within Inkscape, I can swoosh a tablet brush and there is now a piece of a mane, or a wispy cloud!- you get the idea lol. At most I may spend a single hour on a Daily Equestria Sketch, but usually it has been a lot shorter. The shortest has been 10 minutes! I also use waayyy to many layers but thats a story for another day lol.
So, by making "sketches" I feel I can mentally justify posting art which, even if I may not entirely like how it appears, I know that a daily post is getting made and I am able to make art faster. So too, I hope I can use that speed and momentum to help answer asks faster. So far, I think the dailies have helped in that regard.
Whew! That was a lot of text. Goodness. If anyone had the tenacity to read all of that I applaud you XD. As a whole, I generally try not to include walls of text like this in my posts, because I know just how busy and tiring folks days can be, and uh.. I think my walls of text can be pretty intimidating sometimes lol.
Cheers!
