DIY Sweater upcycling Part 1 (complete)
okay so I realised that with reblogging my own post and adding the new steps it does not show up in the tags again and people keep reblogging only the first post.
So here are all the photos and steps I made so far:
Step1 : The sweater as it was before - to small, not worn for several years, still soft and warm. Hand knitted by my mum so I would never think about throwing it way.
Step 2: Find the last sewn in piece and unravelimg the collar.
all gone! I turned the sweater inside out so it's easier to find the sewn in ends.
Step 3: Find and take out the threads used to sew the different pieces together (the most annoying and time consuming part).
Step 4: Finally unravel each part on their own and roll into balls for future use.
I like to start a new ball each time a thread ends. This way I can choose whatever lenght of yarn I need for a project and not take a big ball and end up with like ten pieces I have to join in again and again...
That is how far I have come until now. I'll try to finish some other WIP and then quickly start knitting the cat socks before my motivation leaves me again.
Thanks for reading!
DIY Upcycling Project:
Unravelling an old childhood sweater to make socks
Step 1: An old knitted sweater made by my mum however many years ago.
I want to completely unravel it and later use the yarn to make warm, cuddly kitty socks.
I'll try my hardest to keep updating this post and take you along for the ride
