So I realized my post was worded incorrectly after a close friend of mine on Skype corrected me. People can self-diagnosis them self with Autism, but only if they have had the same symptoms since birth/early childhood. People who come out of nowhere and say, "Since I do something similar to stimming, I must be Autistic right?", after living their childhood normally and not having any symptoms of Autism until then are most likely doing a Placebo(?) effect on them self to connect with or (1/2?)
I forgot what the end of my other ask was. Q___Q Anyway, they're most likely doing a Placebo Effect on themselve to understand or connect with friends or family that are Autistic. I am not anti self diagnosing but I am against people claiming to have Autism because they "like to pet soft things" or to use it as an excuse to get out of trouble. I'm all for people thinking about the possibility of being Autistic as long as they factor in the other symptoms of any Autism Spectrum and just not 2/2?
You can't "do a placebo effect" on yourslf. That's not what the placebo effect is.
Who are you to dictate who can and can't self-dx? And where are you getting this weird idea that people are self-dxing because of new symptoms?
Literally no one is doing these things you are describing. It's a strawman.
Most self-dxed autistic people don't know other autistic people IRL. This is some ridiculous idea you've pulled out of your arse, no, autistic people are not self-diagnosis to relate to autistic family members, oh my god please stop.
Don't go on anti-self-dx rants when you clearly no nothing about self-diagnosis. Or placebos. Placebos are not relevant to this conversation, please stop bringing the up, you're just making yourself look silly.
