Dispatch AU

Reworking on this, gonna pull it altogether in a more cohesive post when I get off work, in the meantime, have some scattered thoughts.

Credit to @lemonadecroc since lemon-mun's love of henshin/kamen rider + the themes inspired me to rework how Persona summoning works for this verse/AU.

Timeline and brief details behind the cut

Age 18(December-March to Post Persona 4), gains her Persona thanks to Teddie, Narukami and Yosuke going into the tv with her to finally face her Shadow. She really didn't want any of them there, because Saki hates how she lied to Yosuke, Narukami and the rest, but no one was letting her go back in there alone. She really didn't want him there to hear all her Shadow had to say again, how it was going to degrade and seek out to humiliate him just to get her to react.

Age: 18-19- visits Inaba while on break from college- just in time for the events of Arena (Ultramax) so she gets to finally test out her Persona (Tsunade) against other users as opposed to fighting low-level monsters. Gets in contact with Mitsuru + the Shadow Operatives.

Age: 19-22: Works with the Shadow Operatives and Mitsuru's corporation while attending classes. Only breaks her contract with them when she comes across Adachi, out on parole/work release sort of situation. They clash, Saki 'claims' she blacked out/doesn't remember what happened, only knows she winds up needing to be patched up at the hospital and unable to explain to her parents + younger brother what happened.

Age 22: - Formally leaves Kirijo Group and Shadow Operatives, is surprised Mitsuru let her keep the 'tech' that makes Persona summoning more of a transformation. Figures she shouldn't question it since 'hey high tech gear, able to still use her summoning/powers bestowed on her by Tsunade'

Age 23: Though it 'might' go against a non-compete clause, Saki joins SDN's Japan branch, so she's familiar with the set up, how it works + what all her transformation and suit is capable of. Has given up on 'college' finding her new life more interesting and less work. Keeps in touch with Yosuke, Teddie and others in the IT to a lesser degree...loss touch with her family, finding it more difficult to explain what all she does for 'work' and feels like she let them down by not at least finishing her education- what originally drove her away from them and the family store.

Age 24: Temp overseas transfer while her home office is being repaired from a kaiju attack. Fluent in English, but doesn't like talking all that much since she can detect the accent/struggles to grasp idioms that don't translate well between the two languages. Will only speak Japanese when on phone calls with friends back home. Tentatively reaching back out to her family, but still a strained relationship.

Powers:

Integrated with Tsunade's 'Psychokinesis' abilities, so while transformed + suited up, Saki has access to powers that can confuse others, distort their vision, inflicts damage similar to Persona status effects of Confuse, Despair, Fear, Rage. The Psychokinesis doubles down on damage with those status effects.

However, she trades away vitality/defense (squishy psychic wizard) and combat is at 2. Her mobility is pretty high though, along with intellect and charisma.

Has some healing at her disposal but like the Psy + ailment abilities it all hinges on how much mana she has. Which she burns through quickly, then has to tap out.

Tends to spam her 'powers' and will fall back and let the heavy-hitters on her team get their licks in while the enemy is reeling from whatever she inflicted on them.

Can cling to surfaces at an angle and upside down, but it only lasts for a few minutes, so tries not to do anything too tricky or get too high where a fall would injure her.

Improvised weapon user: never developed a martial art discipline, unlike her peers, so simply takes what she can reach and will deliver a beating whatever she can lift/reach. Close combat to the point of being reckless.

Outfit:

Motorcycle style helmet and riding gloves (think Celty from Durarara), bright yellow color with magenta and cyan blue 'circles' that pulse when she uses the Psy powers, similar to her 'suit', only the suit is full on black with the pulsating colors/spots.

Relationships:

Still carries a torch for Yosuke, but it's reached the point where she 'knows' or at least suspects he's into someone else. Refuses to address it since it's complicate matters for him + she'd be fully alone if Saki turned him loose/gave up for good.

Still converses with Teddie and he's easily one of her trusted friends.

Mitsuru: talks with her on occasion...still pissed off that Mitsuru supported Adachi's release and poor management/communication led to them crossing paths and friendly fire resulting in both parties being injured. Saki does feel guilty for how she acted/that she attacked Detective Adachi, but will never apologize for her actions.

Tohru Adachi: He is what drove her away from the Shadow Operatives. Even knowing they'd never be sent on the same mission ever again isn't good enough. She wants to put an oceans' worth of distance between herself and him, sort of gets her wish.

OK here's part 2 of my Pyrkon haul:

So I did a substantial amount of shopping in Fukari's stand, because, again, I suspected this might be my last Pyrkon, so I wanted to get some haul from one of my longest followed artists:

A tentacle print - they drew it as a part of an art challenge where you get three random emojis and you make a drawing based on them; they got ☠️👹🦑, and I've always been weak for this kind of body paint/markings, so I wanted to get this one as a print; I thought I'll have to buy it online because they didn't bring one last year (the art is from 2022), but I was lucky to spot it on the second day,

Their OC's arts - top to bottom, left to right are Yanek (Fukari's sona), Anne Marie, Offelia, Antek, George and Chell - if you're a deviantART veteran, you might recognize some of them, since most have been around for more than 10 years,

Hazbin Hotel Stickers - another series I've been meaning to watch, but so far I've only seen the pilot, so the haul I got related to this series is pretty limited. But I love the way they drew the angry Lute, so I couldn't resist,

A postcard with Fukari's self-portrait, and a sticker - I'm pretty sure the latter was a gift for making all this shopping. And one more thing that did not fit in the previous post:

Chernobyl calendar - this was actually a giveaway at the Napromieniowani's lecture on their visits to the northern Ukraine that was affected by Russia's aggresion in 2022 (they are volunteers who travel to Chernobyl not just to visit, but also to help the samosely living there, who now see them as their adopted grandsons); the second picture shows it open on June, when Pyrkon took place, portraying the dining hall of School No. 3, where dozens of children gas masks were thrown away by the Zone employees after they were no longer needed (they were not used in 1986, because the Soviet authorities feared spreading the panic).
