The Barrios of Caracas, Venezuela -- a self-sustained slum community of the downtrodden and 'homeless', where some of the poorest people live and crime rates are some of the highest in the world. Police seldom enter the Barrios and the people there are highly self-sufficient. Besides building their shacks and impromptu houses out of sheet metal and other materials, the denizens of the Barrios steal electricity from the power company and at night, the Barrios light up like a very hilly Milky Way, allowing it to be seen for miles around surrounding Venezuela and the nearby proper city of Caracas.

Finca Bellavista is a unique off-grid treehouse community here in Costa Rica. The tree houses seem very well crafted and comfortable but it's def. for the hard-core eco-tourist or adrenaline junkies! I praise them for creating such a vibrant and eco-friendly community. If only I didn't have such fear of crossing hanging bridges and zip-lines!
