There has been some debate about technique on this video in the comments section. Its in the past so it doesn't really matter now but I will say this: If you're going to be playing around in the mountains, you need to practice your self arrest hundreds of times and keep practicing it. Practice for every possible scenario because when it happens you won't really have time to think about what to do. So pick forward, pick backward, whatever. Figure out what you like and practice it. Some people go pick backward all the time, some people don't. Whatever you do, practice it. If you're on a big mountain, you're tired, hungry, dehydrated, maybe the altitude is impairing your functions, you might be in a situation where you aren't 100% optimized to protect a fall when it happens. So practice and build up the muscle memory for this kind of situation. Stay safe out there!
