These Confederate monuments are not forgotten relics from a dark time. Still today many support what the confederacy stood for. These same people, who are in positions of power, are actively fighting to keep these monuments erected and displayed in public. I attempt to highlight this ongoing sympathy for the confederacy.

This sculpture was created in response to my presentation on light, space, shadow and reflection in art+architectural space. The piece was made with ready made objects including a mirror, a guitar stand and LED strip light. It illuminates the floor, the surrounding environment and creates a shadow on the ceiling. The source of the light (the LED strip) balances on the stand which suggest a sense of tension and stress.
