In life, there should be no such thing as Monday to Friday...
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Abi, 27 and officially unemployed. A couple of months ago, after the most amazing two weeks in Australia I decided to do what most people would call crazy, irresponsible, or if you’re about to wish you could do the same, something incredible… I want to share this adventure with you…every decision, both good and bad, every experience, both exciting and perhaps outright stupid and of course, every monumental moment, that will inevitably change my life! So… I quit my job…and bought a one way ticket to Hawaii. Why? Because I was fed up of waking up every day, dragging myself to work and wishing that I’d been a little bit reckless. I worked a 40 hour job straight out of university and before I knew it, without evening blinking, I’d let 5 years pass me by. Go to university, graduate and get a real job. Isn’t that what “adults” are supposed to do?! Relatable?!? Thought so! It’s never too late….and that all important epiphany you’re waiting for, I experienced the minute I stepped off that plane. All you need is a nudge, a simple push, just enough to take you over the edge, a free fall to a fearless you. I was looking to open new doors, alter my direction and above everything else was seeking something that I was truly passionate about. I’m yet to figure that out but a couple of months with “me, myself and I” might get me that little bit closer. It took a while but I realised that it’s never too late to do something for you and the sooner you do, the more time you have to truly experience life. By letting go of the perceived “must do’s” and “must have’s" and discover what matters most…Happiness, compassion, fulfilment and self satisfaction! Don’t rush it….because when the times right you’ll jump. Don’t be afraid of falling or be afraid of what the future might hold because if you ask me, there’s something quite exhilarating about a free fall to the unknown.
