I really hate that I have to even say this
but please please please now that taylor has made it known that she knows the swiftiesofcolor blog, please don’t try to piggyback it for notices. don’t make posts in the swiftpocselfies hashtag if you’re not a person of color. don’t make posts in the swiftlgbtselfies hashtag if you’re not in the community. and please don’t make posts in the swiftdisabledselfies hashtag if you’re not disabled physically or mentally ill. if you’re reblogging and using the tags, that’s fine. just no original content with those tags if you don’t fit the groups. please don’t take this thing from us just because she knows about it. please let us marginalized people keep this one space and these events to ourselves. thank you.
Selfie nights are a way to highlight lesser represented parts of this fandom, to spread love and positivity. I don’t want to see anyone saying that marginalized groups are milking these selfie nights for attention, they are only a few nights a month.
For those who aren't aware, Poc selfie night started as a response to the racism in this fandom. It was never just fun idea to have poc post selfies. That’s not why poc Selfie night started. symona and Dani started poc selfie nights because they were fed up. Poc fans we’re getting racial slurs in their inbox and DM’s , including the N word. And our posts about fandom racism was almost always dismissed as “drama ” . Not to mention that the media and gp are constantly whitewashing poc in this fandom. Which can make us feel erased at times. Or like we don’t belong here. I didn’t even know that there were so many swifties that looked like me on here until selfie nights.
These selfie nights are SO important and so special and I’m 🥺🥰💞💖💘
Do a selfie night for whatever you want, but please try to understand why it feels like you’re shoving already marginalized groups aside for your own gain, again, when the whole point wasn’t anything to do with Taylor herself, but rather showcasing the diversity in her fandom when so many people think it’s just cisgender heterosexual abled white people. The point was for the people who don’t fit that mold to be seen and acknowledged by the fandom and trying to start your own, however well intentioned, feels like you are doing the exact opposite of seeing and appreciating the beautiful rainbow of humanity that loves Taylor.
Hello from a proud bisexual gal! I know I’m not a Taylor blog, but I have so much love for her and am so incredibly proud of you @taylorswift.
Glittery but stressed✨

i just think it’s really interesting that the day after taylor 100% notices mine and sym’s selfie night directly from the source, people want to make their own selfie night for “people who have never been noticed”... it’s just really interesting that the second taylor takes interest in something, people want to piggyback off of it for their own interest. the POINT of selfie nights have never been to be noticed by taylor, but it’s definitely icing on the cake to have her see and notice marginalized fans. i know i don’t own the concept of selfie nights, but to take the concept of why they’re here and flip it into something so selfish like blatantly just WANTING to be noticed... i can’t help but to be mad about that. i don’t want selfie nights to turn into drama now that taylor knows about them because i really don’t want the point of it all to be lost. and i actually really like the idea of taylor continuing to participate in them and making so many people happy. so can we please just find some human decency and show it. please.
