Josh is quieter than usual when he comes home -- not incrediblyquiet, no, but he’s not saying much, just yeah, busy day and gladto see your face again. Still quieter than usual even when Bailey andLeah rush into the living room after being called in.
It lasts for the rest of the evening, right through putting thegirls to bed and going to bed themselves. Chris waits for a good few seconds asthey settle into bed before nudging Josh. “... Quieter than usual. Like last time.” Chris only read about lasttime in some tabloid rag; Josh had refused to speak about it, with good reason.
Josh pauses, shrugs, smiles at him from the side. These smallactions bring a familiar pull of worry (muchlike last time, like Josh will pull away), and Chris doesn’t like thefeeling. He squashes it by reaching for Josh, hand at the back of his neck, andpulling him to meet in the middle. The kiss is met with a clash of mouths (Josh’steeth are, thankfully, not so present, even as blunted as they are now), more clumsy and firm, driven upfrom a need to... reaffirm things. They’re still OK.

Eyes squint then relax then squint again at the screen, the only other source of light hanging over Chris’ head from a wall lamp. He yawns, and perhaps it’s a touch too loud because when he looks back at their bed, Josh is moving with a quiet grumble. Oops. It’s probably time to get to bed anyway; the girls are always up at the ass-crack of dawn and rattling the bedroom door for breakfast, and it’s now half-past-two in the morning.
So he finishes up what he can for now that doesn’t require a fully-attentive brain, and closes the laptop with another yawn. A pair of arm around his shoulders surprises him, and what Chris can only assume is Josh’s forehead against the back of his neck, which tickles a little. There’s also a low sound, a sort of throaty humming. Chris extends a hand behind him, scratching behind Josh’s ear. “Alright, ’m comin’ to bed.”

Who’s the one to serve the other breakfast in bed: Aaalso Josh, most of the time. Altho this is bc he’s up first, and has the time before he goes to work
Who would suggest a quickie in the morning before work: it’s pronounced quiche?? god. lmao, anyway, they have a quick kiss before Josh goes to work
Who suggests they both ditch work to lay around all day: Chris does. But then he can afford to bc he works from home :y Not that it’d work, bc Josh is pretty dedicated to his work.
Who chooses the movies: Josh. Unless he picks a crappy & overly-gory one, then Chris takes over like “nopenopenope :T”
Who initiates kissing during the movie, thus distracting the other from the movie all together: It could be either of them tbh. If they end up watching Shitty Horror, then Chris would definitely start it just to distract Josh.
Who orders lunch: Chris does, so long as Josh is home, or at least hasn’t had it.
Who steals food from the other’s plate without asking: They both do, lmao
Who curls up next to the other and falls asleep due to a full tummy: I can see Josh doing this tbh.
Who distracts the other from trying to work at home: Josh. :y “It’s nearly midnight, stop that.”
Who asks to go get ice cream like a five year old: JOSH
Who takes pictures of their partner eating ice cream: Chris. Takes pictures of everyone.
Who makes a sexual joke about the dripping ice cream on their partner’s face: Josh. Chris shoots back a “looks better on you, tho”, just to see if he can get a rise out of Josh (he doesn’t; Josh usually wins).
Who cooks dinner: I think Chris would, especially in preparation for Josh (if he comes home early enough).
Who cleans up the kitchen afterwards: They both do. #teamworkmakesthedreamwork

Who stares at their partner while their sleeping: Josh, probably. But also Chris, on occasion.

Chris yawns and kick a leg up, resting over the knee, waiting for Josh to come in. When Josh finally deigns to come in (only about 30 seconds later), Chris wolf-whistles, good and loud, laughing at the little jump of surprise.
“Was wondering how long you’d keep me waiting.” He splashes the water with a hand. “S’gonna get cold the longer you take.”

Two weeks until Leah’s 3rd birthday party, which is plenty of time to plan for, Chris thought. Josh, however, is planning it all down to the last detail -- which nursery friends to invite (partly based on the other parents, and whether he likes them, or not), which colour balloons, the cake (specially-made? seriously?), the candles, the presents, and something for Bailey so that she doesn’t feel left out.
On top of all the work that Josh does -- early out of the house, late back home -- it can’t be healthy for him to be so focsed and wrapped up in this planning.
“Listen, Josh.” Chris wraps an arm around his middle, chin on Josh’s shoulder. Even now, when the kids are asleep and both of them are on the verge of nodding off, Josh is still wound up about the details. “I can take care of some of this, at least. Don’t... stress yourself out.”
