Hey there mighty people of the internet!
And welcome to day 4 of #mightyadvent! - the series that I post daily on Tumblr until Christmas discussing different themes that differ per day of the week, so you (and I) don't get too bored. Also: Welcome to the first ever post of #SelfPromoSunday! If you're wondering what #SelfPromoSunday means: It's that weekly post where I recommend to you one of the awesome little - and not-so-little - things I do online. Yeah… I think even @tyleroakley might call this "shameless self-promotion". But you know what? I'm fine with that!
For today's #SelfPromoSunday you don't even have to leave Tumblr! What I want to promote today is my #TMIishTuesday series. I usually describe #TMIishTuesday as: "My weekly Tumblr post about what goes through my mind and what you guys want to know more about. It can be something personal, it can be something political, it can be completely pointless - but in 99.9 % of the cases, it involves opinions. And mine as well."
I think that hits the nail on the head prettttty well. Each Tuesday there will be a new post about a topic decided by both you guys as the readers and me, the writer. Each Sunday I present to you four topics that you can then choose from by voting in a poll on Twitter. That works pretty well to be honest. Thanks for your participation! It wouldn't be half the fun, if no one voted in the polls. :D (Btw, I just posted the poll for upcoming #TMIishTuesday before I started writing this. As per usual, you have 24 hours to vote, so if you're reading this on Sunday or Monday, you probably can still participate. Click here for the Tweet where I described the topics and here for the actual poll).
Now that we're done with the concept itself you're probably wondering what kind of topics I talk about. Well you could obviously just take a look at the tag here on my Tumblr, but I can also tell you. That's what I'm here for, am I not? As mentioned above, #TMIishTuesday posts are about a variety of topics that interest me. Or they are simply about me. I think these two are the categories I'd pick, if I were to?

- Posts on topics that interest me: School vs. parents; football; a letter to society
- Posts on me/my life: Living own my own; body image; to come out to more people or not to
Fun fact: These were actually the six last #TMIishTuesday's and they are equally distributed between the topics. That was not intended, but it's cool anyway.
Another question that might come up is: Why? I don't share these posts with my friends and family, only with some random guys from the internet that I have never met in person. Why do I even do this? For the not-sharing with friends and family part, see my #TMIishTuesday on that topic (shameless self-promo strikes again! :D). For the other topic, keep reading.
The reason why I write these posts is pretty simple: Fun! Let me go into a little bit more detail here. Until a year ago I studied International Business Administration in the Netherlands. And after studying for four-and-a-half years - in English - I had to leave behind the English talking, speaking, writing part of me. And that didn't feel good. I had been watching YouTube videos in English for a few years and thereby discovered that Twitter was a thing among YouTubers, so I made an account myself. That developed into writing rather elaborate descriptions of YouTubers every month on Twitter which I called #mightyfaves (or #profisfaves on my old account at first). But after doing that for a few years that got boring. Even, if I got some rather positive feedback from some smaller YouTubers that I wrote about, I stopped that at the end of 2015.
Then I started spending more and more time on Tumblr, thereby further discovering my identity and having lots and lots of fun browsing. That was also the time that I came out to the first people. And after a while I decided to write my coming out experience down - for the fear of not remembering things correctly. That were my first posts on Tumblr (besides some reblogs of hot guys :D). A few months later I was bored on a Tuesday night and saw all those #TMITuesday posts on Tumblr where creators would answer the questions of their followers. Having about 15 followers at the time (how I don't know!), answering questions was not an option - I wouldn't get any questions. So I posted a "fact" about myself which was a little update on the coming out situation. That was on 23 February. And from then on… things developed really…
I didn't post regularly then, just when I felt like writing a little bit about myself and if that happened to be a Tuesday. It was called #TMIishTuesday from the very start, but it only became what it is today when I posted it on Twitter for the first time. On 26 May I made a sneaky little tweet that said "i'll just leave this here. if you want to know me a little bit better, take a look at this piece on my tumblr" - and linked to this Tumblr. And on 31 May I first linked a #TMIishTuesday. Finally, on 25 July I included what I now consider the most important element of #TMIishTuesday: The poll on Twitter. You guys got to pick the topic for the first time at the end of July.
I'm proud to say that I never missed a week posting since the end of June. That makes it 23 weeks in a row. Let's get that number to some more!
