Meet my #SelfsonaGemsona, Orange Calcite!
The gemsona of myself has changed a lot from my original one’s design (I used to be Smoky Quartz with a coat, pants, boots, and short hair, but I didn’t like how it turned out). I always thought that an orange stone with creative qualities would fit me best since I am an artist and my favorite color is orange. While it would be cool to have been a Citrine or a Carnelian, since I chose to be a Homeworld gem, I wanted to stay in line with canon. So far, Calcite has yet to be mentioned on the show, so I am going to use the stone until I see otherwise. My gemsona makes portraits for the upper ranked gems of Homeworld. I do portraits specifically since my favorite subject matter to draw and paint are humans (gems). I serve under all of the diamonds and do commissions where I am needed. I’ve had some lovely conversations with Blue Pearl about art while I painted her Diamond. I also have a group of fellow artists that I have befriended and exchanged advice with. While I am creative and improving on my craft, I struggle with low self-esteem, regret, and other mental blocks that make it difficult to navigate the world on the daily. Anxiety and depression are my two biggest hurdles. I have improved a lot in the last century as I have matured and found my place in the world, but I’m not done yet. I have far to go to keep steady ground as new challenges face me internally and externally. My gemstone is circular with a natural cut on my dominate hand (the right one), which I use to draw and paint my subjects. I wear an apron with comfortable clothing underneath as I work. My hair has an ombre/gradient effect to it and it is long enough to pull back into a small pony tail or bun. When my creations are featured in a gallery or at a party, I change my outfit and hairstyle to fit the occasion. My eyesight has gone poor over the centuries, so I wear glasses to help correct my vision. My weapon is a palette knife and my ability has yet to be discovered. Reference Used for Pose
