it’s not that bruce hated being here — it’s that not being in the comfort of wayne manor put him on edge. despite his reputation of never feeling an emotion in his life, anxiety riddled him, and paranoia fueled him. which is why he needed to get away from the loudness of the compound and find a way to bring himself back to earth.
it’s not long before he finds the library, feeling a sigh of relief that there managed to be one corner of this place not infested with others. it takes him a few seconds of looking around before he spots her in the corner, skimming through a book — the one who broke his ... — well, a version of her. not his. but, is that better? the man tries to turn and make a beeline for the exit without her noticing, there was no need to have this conversation,
he’s only halfway through turning when his elbow hits a stand alone book, knocking it over and somehow landing perfectly on the tiniest button on the far corner of the shelf. the, uh, emergency button. “ shit. ” bruce mumbles before the sirens start blaring and the red lights start flashing, glancing back at selina quickly before he books it to the doorway. trying, and failing, to make it before the security doors close and they are now inevitable locked in. “ fuck. ” he curses again, his fist banging on the door but he knows no one on the other side could hear. it was as if the universe wanted them in this room together, and the world couldn’t turn unless they spoke. guess there was no choice now. / @selnakyles
