A very specific coalition of interests and upbringing made it so every time I hear "in media res" I have to take a second to process that it doesn't mean something happened in 480 ~ 720p

Odd to me how lol to me now equates to nervous, polite, and/or uncomfortable laughter, and lmao has become the go-to for loud, raucous, genuine laughter
Is it more appropriate for one to say "i had a shutdown"? Or something else? Or does it really not matter in the context of Larger Things
why do all these facebook vine video things refers to women as 'females' like i've literally never heard someone in real life say the word 'females' referring to women in casual conversation? also isn't female an adjective? like a female dog.....
Confession: Mages aren't enslaved. They're forcefully imprisoned, oppressed, brutalized, yes, but they aren't enslaved. Slavery is the buying and selling of people. The closest thing to slavery that happens to mages is getting reassigned to different circles, but since goods don't change hands in exchange, it's not slavery. Please stop throwing the word slavery around to try and make mages seem the most oppressed. It's not a competition. Lots of people have it rough in Thedas without being slaves, it's okay.
Ableism vs Disablism, which is the right word?
With all the other discriminatory "isms" (racism, sexism, etc.) there are multiple categories...racism can be against any race, sexism against men, women, and any trans people. for the purpose of clearing up what I just said, sexism against women is not called "womanism" it's just sexism. A better example here would be to say that sexism against women is not called "feminism"...in fact, that is quite the opposite. Ableism (or disablism) is the only term like this where there is no gray area (or very little). There are mixed-race people, all sorts of gender identities, but with disability...you either HAVE a disability(ies) or you don't, So which is the right word?
