Princeton Seminary students are asking for reparations for school’s role in slavery

A group of black seminarians have collected signatures in an online petition calling on the school to set aside 15 percent of the school’s endowment.

This is one of the seminaries in our denomination (a much much wealthier seminary than my own...). It looks like they’re headed in a good direction.

I hate that my former New Testament professor who taught “Paul was just making stuff up” and “Paul’s letters weren’t meant to draw theology from” and “orthodoxy would be a heresy if it didn’t ‘win’” is now the president of one of the ELCA seminaries. 

and the presiding bishop and others frown on the Luther House of Studies at Sioux Seminary because some of our seminarians are primarily being taught by Baptists and not being taught by Lutherans.

If the Baptists are orthodox, I think they are getting more from them than all seven of our seminaries combined. Not to mention they have the fairly helpful Lutheran systematic theologian Dr. Steven Paulson leading the Luther House of Studies.

This is all poor ecclesiology.
