(And you're right about education snobs in your intro post, like I'm no perfect person either but there's something so ostracizing and ableist about people who would put others down over not wanting to pursue academics or heck not even being able to pursue academics. Yiiikes)

Thank u for sending me such a lovely ask!! Ive been on studyblr (/lifeblr? Workblr?) since end of 2025 (tho i made the blog summer of 2025) but had a lot of stuff happen and im only now really taking it seriously for accountability so u could say im kinda new too🤣!

And yeah, it's something ive mentioned a few times but never so openly because i am still a bit wary talking about it on STUDYblr specifically lol (and this is a great chance for me to fight that waryness and talk about it cause im trying to live by the wise saying "be cringe, be free"😂🙂‍↕️🙏) but im a uni dropout myself and i know others who for different reasons have had to drop out too (some of them did sign up to uni again later and graduated or are currently still enrolled! I'd love to sign up again one day too! But some just werent made for uni and that's okay too! Everyone's got their own path, as cheesy as that sounds) so i dont like the "holier-than-thou" toxicity that some studious people tend to have.

I also think it's really important to keep in mind that financial issues as well as family issues and location issues and of course health issues too can play a HUGE roll in how "smart" or "studious" someone is; so regardless im very anti spaces that pretend to be all about bettering one's self with knowledge but then put other people down if they deem them "stupid".

It is so wild how 2 days of very little very poor chinese speaking at work with costumers... have actually helped me improve my chinese by A Lot already. I'm nowhere near fluent nor ready to hold a conversation (i spoke half in english with those costumers) but 2 days of that have done so much for my improvement and it's not like i didnt know irl speaking works wonders and (sadly, imo) works way better than regular textbook studying but DAMN. I dropped the perfectionist mentality a while back and that had already helped too, my dad always told me he became fluent in german through making a fool of himself while in germany during the summer as a teen because he made a lot of mistakes several times and people corrected him several times and eventually he stopped making those mistakes meanwhile his friends that were great at german still struggled holding a conversation and didn't learn much from the trip because they only tried to speak when they knew they would say something 100% correct aka they made no mistakes = there was no improvement

100 days of productivity challenge! We're baaack!!!

day 1 - june 1st 2026: was asked to do a favour for someone in a side of town ive rarely seen, did it, that's all i care to say! also went to a hospital real quick to visit someone (all good, no worries). The morning was used to prepare and as soon as i arrived home, even tho it was later than usual, i went on a long walk! i only planned for 30mins but it actually ended up being 2hrs sharp lol! was very fun and cathartic! was also nice to go out a bit later and see the sky deepening in colour (a few years ago that wouldve scared me shitless lol). Also did my skincare, drank my water and ate well.

day 2 - 02/06/2026: still holiday, went out with a friend and we walked a lot! (the day after i also walked a lot and those 2 days were enough to give me a major tan lmao). Also drove around a bit and saw a new place + we went to a garden exhibit that I had wanted to go to for some time now and it really inspired me creatively and we had some truly nice conversations! Also did my skincare, ate well and drank my water. And in the morning, besides getting ready, I also cleaned and re-organised the hallway desk (some of it was other people's messes).

day 3 - 03/06/2026: went on a walk in the morning (saw a nice lady i know!), then got ready and had to help out a bit downtown with fam stuff and to do that i had to walk even more and i was drenched when i arrived lol (it was under the sun but it was actually fun! tho i also felt sick lol), then i managed to get to the library and i sat in a different area than usual which was fun! but i sadly literally didnt have time to do anything because my fam always lies about how long things will take and we live far from a lot of stuff and just... i had to walk back to meet with them so literally at that point i only went to the library to at least get away from them a bit and im glad i did! i got more steps in that way too! Also did my skincare, drank my water and ate well. Plus finished replying to a friend. I also wrote a bit!

day 4 - 04/06/2026: had to help out with fam stuff at home and i did go through a mini breakdown because of a certain someone anyway, decided i wouldnt help any further cause they had asked me for help with more stuff, and instead i made my trackers for the month + updated them and then spent Hours applying for jobs through several different things + looking at government programs for unemployed and/or young people! I also fasted, drank a lot of water and did my skincare (and my skin and the medical issue i have are looking a Lot better now!).

Oh and I have already lost some weight and ive started feeling the "im being active again" legs fatigue and soreness which actually feels pretty nice!

Yall! Updates soon fr but i was busy and tired and also letting myself rest during my free time before the storm fully hits! Cause, tho i passed by a few days already, casually (and unpaid lol), my 1st official day at (what i would consider my first, real) new job is tmrw! Tho the first week is a trial week and i think that's good, so we both (owners and i) can see if "it's a good fit". This job has a lot of cons and "legally we should x y and z but be a team player and turn a blind eye" but it's only until sept/oct which is perfect for me so if i get fully hired ill try to stick it through! This specific job would look great on my cv + the pay (tho still low) is higher than for some other regular jobs so ill really try my best! Anyway, i already planned out my week etc and my guideline goals for it but kept in mind the 1st month i may be too tired to do anything else and that's okay too!

Re-started the 100 days of productivity challenge cause why the hell not!

The first two days were holiday but i still did some stuff!

As always (bit of a rant incoming), we've had another family emergency that made people request of me to put everything aside in order to help out but ive literally lost count of the amount of times that doing that has lead me to a bad path so i simply had to put my foot down and deal with the consequences. I'll still have to help out a bit some days but im putting myself first and being less cooperative because im still seething at having lost job opportunities because "wait but u cant get a job rn! we need u!" to then have those same people turn around and shame me for not having a job...

Sadly, i missed the deadline for a lot of jobs that I could've actually qualified for and that seemed cool too😭 and now it seems like we're back in a dry openings season (end of may was BOOMING with job openings) but ill keep applying to whatever i can and ive seen some signs downtown saying they're looking for personal! I also know that a bit deeper in the summer there should be another small window of a lot of job openings due to some stuff in the city so fingers crossed!

This rant was to explain that ofc my situation still isnt ideal but pre June i had already done a lot of things i had put off and had a bit of mind shift that i think - hopefully - will really help me out in the longrun!

The goals are the usual ones: study, lose weight, work on hobbies during free time rather than being online, apply for jobs to hopefully get a job, declutter digitally (mostly did that pre june but making some of it a weekly habit), side gig (decided i dont wanna talk about this after all), start reading again, keep up with journalling, more consistent skincare (medical thing), get better at replying to friends and go out more!

If google isn't failing me, 100 days from June 1st should be around September 9th which is actually perfect for me for several reasons idc to explain now. Let's see how far i get!

Long post about accents (kinda).

So, i interact with a lot of tourists due to [redacted], most of which from America overall as in USA, Canada and Latam countries (there's also a lot of spaniards and the french are starting to arrive too, i hear they tend to take their vacation days in july). And when it comes to the usamericans specifically (btw a GOOD chunk of them, as in more than half, are usually from the south, the 2nd biggest category - which is a lot smaller - is new yorkers and californians) there's this one thing that happens.

Before i explain it, some context.

I learned english when i was around 11 (im 23 rn) via watching kids' shows in eng for 3 months straight while in florida for my summer vacation. Everyone there spoke spanish with me and all around me because i stayed cooped up inside my relatives' houses watching tv all day long (I'd just move from house to house and that was it lol) and my relatives on that side of the family are all latinos and a lot of them didnt even speak english back then, so no, florida did not play a part in my english journey at 11yo (or it did, but again, only via tv cause all the channels were ofc in english).

I had a very small basis of eng prior to that point but i do think it helped me out a lot and by the end of the summer i was fluent and could understand all the shows i watched without struggling in the slightest.

Then I went back home (Europe) and started studying eng really hard since it was now both fun and easy for me. Then for a couple of years i kept going to florida during the summer but i started going out a bit! (With my relatives, i was still a kid). Went to the grocery store, mall, met some of my cousins' friends at their houses, comic book store, movie theatre, barnes and noble lol (that one at my request), etc. At home i also changed all the kids' channels to "play the original language version" and i started reading books only in english (save for school books). I also only listened to music in eng.

But after year 1 of me being fluent, so before i ever stepped foot in florida again, i already had people mistaking me for a usamerican if they heard me speak english.

I thought they were being very nice but lying a bit ofc.

Except... it kept happening so often and caused some genuine small confusing moments while abroad or at airports and eventually it hit me "oh... they Really think i sound like that" which was wild because a lot of usamericans also thoughts so too.

Fast forward a few years, all my cognitive skills start getting worst a bit due to the horror years (hs lol) and my english (along with my native languages and other languages i was studying) gets worst.

Then i put in a Lot of effort and re-train myself in all my "lost" skills and im doing much better now! (I still need to work harder on my spelling + im tired rn so ignore any basic errors lol).

But i did think id gotten a bit of an accent back, which i was completely fine with.

Turns out it isn't the case tho?

I get... SO many usamericans thinking im their neighbour.

And here's the deal. Their behaviour instantely changes when i speak in english to them and they start assuming im one of them.

And idk what pisses me off more. When they treat me BETTER because of it or when they treat me WORSE because of it.

And it's extra interesting to see the reaction post me correcting them "oh, no, I'm not from the u.s, i'm-".

So i actually started faking a stronger accent when im travelling abroad and need to speak eng because i dont wanna get the usamerican treatment lol. Some may consider this extreme but it is just a slight thing (not super strong) + my accent does peak out a lot more when im tired so it is hidden inside of me anyway lol.

There's no conclusion to this post or anything, it's just... uh.

anyone have any time tracking app recommendations? Idc about apps that block your phone. I just need apps that track my time and allow me to divive it in different categories and then give me stats. Like, "you studied for 1hr, read for 30mins, did chores for 3hrs, 10% of your day was spent..." etc.

So far im using Focus Plant (i used to use Forest but the new updates made the free version basically unuseable) but the app's always lagged a lot and ads make it worst so usually i watch a whole bunch of ads every few days cause after you do that they dont pop up randomly anymore for a few days and the app runs a bit smoother but the past few days... i try to watch the ads and then at the end it literally does not give me the option to click out and get my "reward"? And instead takes me to the play store or opens a new tab for me and then when i go back it re-starts the app without counting that ive watched the ad?

It's so frustrating and makes the free version of the app so fucking annoying to use but it really helps me to see how much time i spend being productive and on what things so...

The one alternative ive found (still have to try it tho) so far is called Focumon. So i guess I'll see about that one.
