We are here Saturday at the shelter and he has me in tears and has broken my heart. He appears to not to able to see and possibly not hear, he’s been neglected by the condition of his coat. Is there a rescue who came come save this precious boy today? The shelter will let him leave today as foster to rescue. He should not be here. He’s confused, he’s bumping into the kennel as he can’t see. No heart murmur noticed at this time, however possible arrhythmia was ausculted. Dog has several dorsal cutaneous masses (likely benign apocrine gland adenomas). Coat is soiled and dog is due for a groom. cough- RO cardiogenic vs. infectious vs. other Rx: furosemide- 12.5mg- 1/2 PO SID x10d ($16) Rx: doxycycline- 100mg- 1/2 PO SID x10d ACT: groom Recommend rescue for cardio workup NS 09/09/19 11:53 Dog is aged, possibly blind and deaf. This is a long one so be ready for the read: “Hello, my name is Bella. I am a 14 year old Poodle. I am well into my senior citizen life as a full grown dog. Little is known about my birth but it is a fact that I lived with the same family for the first 12 years of my life. For a dog, that’s more than a lifetime. I grew up, I learned, I played, I loved the same people for the longest part of my lifespan. When I was close to 13 years old, my lifelong family decided they didn’t love me anymore. I was old, hard of seeing, hard of hearing, less than playful, and what seemed like a burden. My family left me at a shelter to live out the rest of my days. A little more than a year ago I was adopted. I’ve spent little time in my new home compared to my previous life but I am happy. I still can’t see, I still can’t hear; I have a weak bladder and sometimes I poop on the kitchen rug just for fun. In the eyes of some I am in the way, I am a nuisance, an inconvenience. But in my home I am loved, I am treated well, I have a big sister that likes to annoy me but looks out for me nonetheless. I am happy. I am grateful to my first family for taking care of me me. But I am also grateful to my new family for giving me my forever home, no matter how long that may be.” A year ago I adopted this sweet and sassy lady from the Starkville Humane Society and she’s just as sweet and sassy today. From my friends page - This Poodle is 20 and still moving along with the others. He has times when he can't hold his urine so wearing a thin style belly band will keep an incontinent pad in place. It has 4 mil. sheet plastic sewn inside that keeps it from bunching up. Mom was able to see how well it was constructed and knew she made the right choice.
